The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), in collaboration with MyGov, invites comments and suggestions from stakeholders and the general public on the draft accessibility standards for the Transport & Mobility Sector. These draft standards, which identify non-negotiable rules, have been prepared to strengthen the creation of barrier-free environments in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and relevant rules.

The draft document is now available for review. Click here https://depwd.gov.in/public-consultation-on-draft-accessibility-standard... to read.

As a student, I strongly support the initiative to create accessible transport and mobility environments for persons with disabilities. The draft accessibility standards are a step forward in ensuring that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, has equal access to transportation. It is essential for the public, including students, to actively participate in this consultation process by reviewing the proposed standards and providing valuable feedback. By doing so, we can help shape a more inclusive society where people with disabilities are not hindered by physical barriers. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on the MyGov platform.
