Invitation for Comments and Suggestions
The Ministry invites stakeholders, experts, and the public to provide comments and suggestions on the Draft Accessibility Standards for the Built Environment Sector. These standards aim to ensure inclusive, safe, and independent access for persons with disabilities in all public and private buildings.
Key Focus Areas:
- Accessible entrances, ramps, and pathways
- Vertical and horizontal circulation (elevators, stairs, handrails)
- Facilities including washrooms, signage, lighting, seating
- Emergency accessibility measures (escape routes, alarms)
- Implementation timelines, audit mechanisms, and enforcement
- Context-specific solutions for heritage, rural, and informal structures
Your feedback on the feasibility, gaps, and suggestions for improvement will be invaluable.
Please send your inputs by [insert deadline] to [contact details/link].
Together, let’s build an inclusive environment for all.
