Here are some practical, non-institutionalized rehabilitation ideas for divyang (persons with disabilities) students, focusing on community-based, family-based, and school-integrated approaches rather than formal institutions.

Family First Support Ecosystem for Divyaang Children
To promote non-institutional rehabilitation, India needs a unified and compassionate support system that empowers families caring for Divyaang children. I propose a combo model combining Technology + Community + Family Counseling:
1.Tech Support Platform
A government mobile app that connects adoptive/foster families with therapists, doctors, special educators, and emergency assistance nearby.
2.Community Support Teams
Trained local volunteers and professionals visiting homes regularly to support daily needs, learning activities, mobility tools, and emotional care.
3.Continuous Family Training & Counseling
Workshops (online & offline) to guide families in understanding disabilities, communication, behaviour support, and government schemes.
This hybrid model ensures every child grows in a loving home, with access to therapy, education, and social inclusion. It embodies the true spirit of “Family-based Care for All Divyaang Children

The family is the child's first and most important support system.
Parent-as-Therapist Training:
Idea: Train parents and family members to do simple therapy exercises at home. A therapist can visit for a few sessions to teach them how to do physiotherapy (movement), occupational therapy (daily tasks like eating/dressing), or speech therapy using fun, everyday items.
Simple Example: Use a kitchen spoon to practice grasping (fine motor skills) or have the child crawl through a tunnel made of cushions (gross motor skills).
Mobile Therapy Units (Van/App):
Idea: Use a van that visits villages or neighborhoods regularly, staffed by a therapist and a special educator. They can also use tele-rehabilitation (video calls) to guide parents and check on the child's progress.
Simple Example: A mobile van comes every two weeks to a central spot to give check-ups, hand out simple exercise charts, and update their digital progress log.

This document presents a comprehensive set of innovative, practical, and globally inspired ideas aimed at strengthening non-institutionalised rehabilitation for Divyang (children with disabilities) in India. Special focus is given to children living in tribal, hilly, remote, and economically challenged regions, who often remain unreached by formal disability services.

We as a nation are far behind when it comes to caring for the Divyangjan...
The basic problem lies in the approach and identification.
Whereas the government recognised institutes are numbered and already out of skilled and concerned staff...there should be a PPP model to train Divyaangjan and absorb them into work force as per their skills.
The approach should be dynamic and ratio of skill provider to the student maintained ...which implies newer institutes in every few years to absorb the load.
Special vehicular arrangement, toilet amenities are reasonable requirements
