Kalyan-Dombivli has been short-listed as one of the 100 cities in India to be developed as a SMART City under the SMART Cities Mission. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is in the process of preparing a Smart City Proposal to compete in the nation-wide Smart City Challenge. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation seeks the valuable inputs of the citizens to assist in the preparation of smart city vision. We request you to share your thoughts and aspirations on this discussion forum. The needs, aspirations and dreams of the citizens are to be articulated through the SMART CITY vision. KDMC is looking for active participation of the citizens to understand their likes and dislikes about the city, the city features to leverage for smart city development, and thoughts for optimum utilization of the city resources. The suggestions are welcomed on various smart solutions for urban services like water supply, sewerage, solid waste management; aesthetics, transport, health, e-governance and IT interventions.

We are living in a digital world and as we speak more and more people are getting interconnected. So, all corporators can be made responsible and accountable by getting them on online platform. We can take picture of potholes and filthy roads or overfull garbage cans and TAG the corporator of the area. This way we all would come to know who is doing the work and who is not. They would become more sensitive as they might have to act for the mere thought of losing in elections.

The needs of KDMT can be solved with the help of corporate'. More and more corporate want to do CSR, so we can tap these. We can ask them to sponsor a bus along with maintenance and cleanliness of the bus. In turn, corporate can advertise on the bus for the whole year.

We should run an experiment to give unlimited free bus rides to monthly pass holders. This way our buses could run for full and we might get more people on board the bus. Off course, we would have to increase the frequencies and so would the routes. We would need to do a survey on how much people would appreciate such kind of system and how much money would they pay plus what are the expectations of the people.

All government buildings of the corporation should be used more productively like the basement for parking, the ground floor and first floor for commercial enterprises. In turn, the corporation would get rent for it which can be again used for many other purposes like say better pavements or giving bonuses to corporation employees.

One more thing that can be done is shifting all the important buildings of the corporation to outskirts as the money received from the transactions can be used for building government hospitals, public schools or facilities for senior citizens or physically challenged peoples. The money thus earned can also be used for many other purposes like constructing roads etc.

We should have smart street lights with chips built into it so that it should be able to decide when to switch off or switch on the light depending upon factors like the temperature, the humidity, the time, the weather etc. This would help us save on electricity bills for the corporation.The money thus saved can be used for other productive purposes like planting of trees or flower beds across the city.

lot of parking (currently all the roads and lanes are highly crowded with parked vehicles), roads (none of them ever are in good condition), reduced pollution (Dombivli is infamous for air pollution)

For Smart City we need to concentrate on Basic things first. 1. There should be master plan ready considering all the things right from underground Drainage system to broader Roads, Parking areas etc. 1. All officer should be honest to do their work. 2. Need to remove all illegal constructions whoever have and did 3. Make a road broader 4. Reserve the Parking area for vehicle near Market or crowdie area. 5.Economical Public Transport facility within city 6.CCTV Camera 7. Strict traffic rules.
