Education is considered as the backbone of development, both at the individual household and societal levels. Educating the tribal children has been a challenge for the Government for various socio-cultural, economic, ecological and administrative reasons. Government is redesigning its strategies to create an enabling ecosystem of equal opportunity for quality education for ST children.

One of the major concerns of Tribal education is the low ST literacy rate and high ST drop-out rate.

Reducing the ST drop-out rates in Class I to X is a challenge. Bringing them back and to gainfully utilizing those who have already dropped out requires extreme care, sensitivity, imagination and meticulous planning.

Through this platform, Ministry of Tribal Affairs invites ideas, suggestions, views, opinions, solutions, criticism, and best practices from citizen for innovative interventions.

Primary schools in all Tribal villages, with lady-teachers from same districts. Dropout of girls will come down, as both parents & children will feel more secure. Mid day meals should be provided. Also six monthly health check up camps should be conducted in tribal schools.

I suggest to initially find the reason why children drop out? It may be money, challenges, risk, family situation... Trying to resolve them first increases the rate automatically!

I am from West Bengal. In our State there are many drop outs, both in rural and urban villages & the following factors can arrest this p:
1)Enrollment of more teachers specially in primary school
2)provision of toilets in schools for reducing female drop outs
3)Enhancement and monitoring of mid-day-meal facilities
4)Course fee concession for poor students and more scolarships.

I am from Jharkhand, the state is still infant, since the creation in 2000, till date its not wrong that it was in ventilator since birth. For the first time there's a majority BJP govt. that too with a clean image, down to earth CM. The real problem of tribals is their way of leading life that can be only eradicated by education. The development of the state has been halted by CNT & SPNT land acts,we need a man with a spine to remove these laws. Its hurting the tribals more thn anyone elses.

Rather than trying to impose a curriculum that is followed in well connected parts of India, a holistic curriculum including tribal tradition as well as essential skills to thrive in non-tribal areas like computer education will definitely reduce dropout rate. Don't impose, let them imbibe. Once dropout rate comes down, literacy rate will progress
