With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

Sir,
GST on Flats Purchase 18% is very high and prohibitive to take any flat by a common middle class man. Earlier it was around 4 % which itself is very high given the high cost of real estate products. We are now forced to close our agreements for purchase of flats since the GST itslef boosted the price by whooping 18% and comes around addnl burden of Rs 5.00 lakhs small flat.It is horrible. You can say that input tax credits will reduce the burden. In India will Real Estate ever transfer?

As now a days every shop is collecting GST 18% to 28%, and we are paying happily. Did the money goes to GOVT, no clue. There should be some connection we should send a photo copy of receipt that we paid GST, So Gove can randomly verify Yes the GST received by GOVE, else the money is looting by so many shop kippers.

Agencies/Individuals giving inter state service & business is below 20 lacs should be exempted from GST. We are finding it difficult to hire trainers from outside Gujarat who do not fall under GST. But they have to take GST number for giving inter state services.

GST Return -

Sir this is for e-way bill. Sir in order to have check on unregistered entities' transactions, in Tax Audit Report mandate to disclose all transactions without GST with HSN code and PAN of counter party. This would bound the entity and CA certifying to disclose such transactions. Now Using Data analytics the government can identify and trace all such transactions without GST and the entities doing so.

The whole justification for having e-way bill in earlier VAT era was the difference in the rates of VAT for the same item when it was sold within the same State (VAT = 13% or 14%) or when it is supplied to a different State (CST = 2%). Thus a trader had incentive to misdeclare the sale as inter-State.
In the Indian Model of GST, the GST rate on any item is same whether that item is supplied within the same State or it is supplied to a different State. Hence, e-way bill is not needed in GST era.

Dear Sir,

Any administrative actions/policies will be effective provided there is an incentive for following the rules. The incentive for any honest tax payer is punishing people who doesn't adhere to it and use corrupt practices.

A salaried employee pays tax on income and again pays tax on every item he/she purchase. But a business man OR a farmer doesn't pay income tax. Govt should treat all income sources as same and tax accordingly instead of distinguishing on source of income.

Greetings from Ramakrishnan-Try to reduce by next budget the (Group-ReGroup)GST percentage slabs by 2 or 3 Maximum to clear the confusion presently in the GST issue presently.
Take away GST from Sanitary Napkins - immediately. (No Tax on Napkins if MRP per piece is say below 8-10 rupees). otherwise the invention will be waste. Moreover in 3 years IncomeTax department must be frozon/takenoff from India.
include the tax outgo in high end luxury items and large savings also - no problem.
