With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

I really accept the GST Bill passed by our Modi Government. Its really a positive move towards our development. One Tax for all the Services is quite a brilliant idea. We have a Blog in Hindi Hindime.net where we share the Knowledge in hindi as India has more Hindi speaking people but there is scarcity of Hindi articles in Internet. So I request all to help us spreading and sharing the Hindi Articles. You can read about GST in hindi at https://hindime.net/gst-bill-kya-hai-hindi/ .Thanks guys.

INDIA'S BIGGEST REFORM IN THE 70 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE. WE APPRECIATE GOVERNEMNT MOVE ON THIS ,BUT CRUDE, PETROLEUM PRODUCTS SHOULD ALSO BE BROUGHT UNDER GOODS AND SERVICE TAX. WE REQUEST TO WITHDRAW 12% GST TAX ON SANITARY NAPKINS AND BRING DOWN TO ZERO TAX BRACKET, EVEN THOUGH THE TAX ON NAPKIN HAS BEEN BROUGHT FROM 14% TO 12% CONSIDERING THE BASIC NECESSITY OF WOMAN THEY ARE ESSENTIAL NOT LUXURY

One problem is absence of similar facilities in the provisions of GST with respect to specific situations which were available in erstwhile tax regime. Where the officers were empowered to issue/allow where no specific law was available.
One example is the export of bulk commodities which happens through road/rail combined together. Like Iron Pellets or Coal or Ores are mined, washed, graded and shifted from mines to nearest railway siding and to port by rail.

Dear Sir,

GST is welcome though there are many procedural issues. GSTN is in making and most of the requisite functionalities are not working. As per the GST law and provisions, all intimations/permissions/documents are to be done though online process. But recently there are tweets and circulars saying that till the time the process is not online, submit offline. This happened for Export procedure. Similarly for job work intimation.
