With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

Government should consider giving relief to salaried income tax assessees out of GST paid by them in or increase standard deduction so that persons having income upto Rs.5 lakhs need not pay tax at all. Salaried asseesses can input the gst invoices paid by them in GST portal or through income tax portal. BJP's poll promise of tax free persons up to an income level of Rs.5 lakhs is still pending.

As far as Customs House Agents, for a paltry sum of Rs.5000 or even lower as agency fees they cannot be forced to take credit of their Importer consignees and then pass on to their importer consignees. But they must be allowed to pay on behalf of their importers and exporters and get reimbursed from consignees. The provision relating to this and definition of pure agent is not clear.

Make GST as a single rate single tax with 4% for all products and services with no credit to anybody.

Composition scheme requires clarification on closing stock as on 30June 2017, there is lot of confusion on this issue among small traders. Rules for opting for this year should be seperately elaborated. Very good scheme for small traders

The biggest problem with GST is the RCM (Reverse Charge Mechanism) whereby a Regd dealer has to pay GST on purchase from Unregd dealer - a limit of Rs.5,000 per day per GST Regn. is of no use as it is impossible to track. This tax does not even help the Govt as it can be adjusted by the Regd dealer against the GST payable by him. It is only being used by Regd dealers to force Unregd dealers below 20 Lakhs turnover to take Regn. This is most unfair and will only lead to lot of unproductive work.

Respected Sir, The branch post masters(BPMs) are the base of postal service and they are directly connected to the rural areas. but, unfortunately, they are casual staffs and receive a poor salary amount . Would you take necessary steps to make them permanent staffs of Central Govt. ?

Restaurants are taking GST from the customer. Government ensures that GST should reach to the Gov. Also GOV. should come out with the implantation plan and awareness for Anti-profiteering law.
