With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

Sir
I own a small construction company. Do I need to register under GST?
Is the service tax payable on the installment or the the total cost of the Flat or on the services only (deducting the cost of construction)?

Shri. Arun Jaitley,We (individuals)are paying GST during purchase of TV,Washing Machine ,Bike and others out of income which is balance after paying our income tax.Which is over burden to us.Consider to set off GST with our income / income tax.We know both are different type of taxes still we ask you to consider the middle income people.

Thanks
L.Ananthakrishnan

I am mutual fund distributor earning less then 20lacs. In service tax regime exemption limit was avlble upto 10 lacs paying no tax.In GST We r reqd to pay through RCM if not registered & pay self if registered. My query is that 1) I am unable to utilise basic exemption limit of 20lacs & reqd to pay from rupee 1.2) We r providing services to investors i.e. end user. But we r reqd to pay GST from our pocket. Neither GST paid by AMC or investors i.e. end user.
Pls end this injustice.

Dear Sir,
I am working in tourism Industry and we found difficulty to understand taxes in hotel. as per earlier communication tax was charged under 3 element

Up to - INR 2500- 5%
INR2 500- INR 7500- 18 %
INR 7500++ - 28 %.
Earlier it was mentioned that Tax was charged on rate offered by hotel and not on published tariff because Published tariff is 40 % ++ higher on offered rate.But now hotels in Delhi claiming tht they will charge Tax on Published Tariff which is nightmare for aagent

Arunji;
To reduce police raj and corruptions in new system you should incorporate the facility so that end users can claim the 10% IT rebate from the purchases done on services, goods. This will keep the check in the system that each supplier they will get the invoive they will upload on IT site for rebate which will be reconciled with the system bills uploaded by seleer, service provider. This will help in building fool proof system in terms of payment of taxes to government
