Revamping Teacher Education for Quality Teachers

Start Date :

Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary ...
1. Increase the salaries and incentives given to teachers so that more people are attracted towards educating children in schools. 2. Centralized Common entrance test should be conducted to admit only committed and hard working students into B.Ed colleges. 3. Entrance test/skill test should be conducted before appointing teachers in schools. 4. Regular monitoring and reporting of teachers' work is to be carried out.
The need for increase of capacity of teacher education institutions, especially North East regions and Strengthening and re-structuring of SCERTs, IASEs, CTEs and DIETs is need to taken at priority.
Secondly, address the problem of large number of untrained teachers. Strengthening the structures of BRCs and CRCs to provide suitable institutional support for Continuous professional development teachers.
Teachers should teach students all possible ways of handling a problem and let the student solve the problems in the way of his choice. In the current scenario, the teachers resort to a single method and if the student doesn't solve as per the syntax and steps provided by the teacher, then the student gets zero, even though he was right. When these students get into higher education they suffer. Because students don't develop imaginative skills at schooling.
Present state of teachers in government run schools is terrific. As many of them are appointed with mal practises. Hence the required qualification is only on paper which is not in actual. So training of these teachers in training sessions is very difficult.Digital content to be recorded in classroom from various good teachers & which can be referred by these teachers or by students directly.
the teachers who teach the students above 10th class should teach the students in an analytical manner rather than theoritical manner for clear cut understading.
Assessing the skills and appointing teachers may seem difficult if you see India as a whole but cascading the role to each and every village administration or respective educational officers is not that hard task. I am afraid that there can be some loop holes however there is no way to expect perfection during pilot stage itself. We should follow Kaizen (continuous improvement) in each and every field. In due course all the loop holes will be eradicated.
Teachers are considered superior to god in olden days but now aspiration to become a teacher is not there. On 24/5/2015 in The Hindu newspaper, I read about the protest held by the teachers from a small district in Bihar regarding their confirmation and salary. There may be a question that why they are asking so much salary for teaching? They also have family and have to satisfy their needs. Aspirational teachers are tough to find, if we lose already existing teacher, future education will be a?
Now a days people with good talent are not opting for teaching career. This is only because the pay is very less, Thus teachers salary should also increase along with the line. So this in turn motivates people with good education base to take up for teaching profession.
Teachers are the source of information. Thus teachers should be recruited (especially school teachers) on the basis of knowledge not merely with the experience and degrees they hold. Because now a days obtaining a degree has become very easy. First and foremost open university education should be restricted to great extent. Teachers who possess degree through open university and through distance education should be restricted for teaching in order to have a Quality Teacher.
