Coimbatore is centrally located, and the major cities Tirupur, Pollachi, Mettupalayam and Palghat are within a radius of 40 kms in 4 directions. The city is growing at a rapid pace. The expanding economic activities and consequently the transport requirements are putting enormous stress on the existing road infrastructure

While some are in charge of the parking system, some take care of the pedestrian woes, water management or even blood donation. The best part about that project is that it's an integrated system where the general public is involved in a big way. On the other hand, the public in our country does not have easy access to the administration. An integrated system will sort that issue and help in the implementation of ideas.

I believe that the quality of life among Coimbatoreans would undergo a change once the Smart City initiatives are implemented. "The city is brimming with budding entrepreneurs, business houses and migrant population. Once the city is more organized, it will be easier for these people to operate in the city, in a more effective manner. It will also provide everyone better opportunities and a better way of living."

"The top fundamental priority would be to develop the quality of infrastructure, which is a day-to-day issue an average Coimbatorean battles with. It's high time we mulled over the MRTS system that will ease out the traffic flow in the city. And this has to done before we begin work on other criteria. We need to come out with a comprehensive plan to focus on the road, railways and public transport. And when we begin work on the infrastructure, it's important - plan is execution within 5 years.

"The industrialists in the city are more than happy to come forward and invest in smaller schemes like building of parks, but projects like roads and traffic needs funding from the Government. The biggest concern among people is that they might not get the returns once they invest in the project. Coimbatore is high on economic activity and has high potential for good returns. The money will come back.
