Lucknow is the capital city of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. A major metropolitan city of India. It is the second largest city in north and central India after Delhi. Lucknow has always been known as a multicultural city that flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub and seat of Nawab power in the 18th and 19th centuries. It continues to be an important centre of government, education, commerce, aerospace, finance, pharmaceuticals, technology, design, culture, tourism, music and poetry.

Lucknow Municipal Corporation is preparing the Smart City Proposal with an intent to plan and provide smart solutions to the city and welcomes the citizens of Lucknow to post their views, opinions, thoughts and plans on smart solutions for their needs related to water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, storm water drainage, waste water management, affordable housing, energy efficiency, use of renewable and solar energy, non-motorized transport, underground electric cabling, open space development, safety, healthcare, education, culture and heritage, public transport, key infrastructure such as pedestrian walkways, cycle tracks, roads, underpasses, Fly overs, services such as e-governance tools etc.

Inputs from citizens is crucial for framing a vision for Lucknow and to get selected as one among the top 20 cities in the first year, in the Smart City Challenge round.

7. Old Clothes collection points may be set up where all the citizens who wish to donate their good quality old clothes may be collected and thereafter distributed to poor and needy people and during various calamities like flood, earth quake etc. in any part of India.

Lucknow को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए जो सबसे ज़रूरी पहल है, वो है सबसे पहले निचली बस्तियों को जहां गालियां होती हैं, सकरे रास्ते होते हैं, उनमे भरपूर सुधार/सुविधा ईमानदारी से देना।

6. Use of polythene bags should be stopped. People should be encouraged to carry their own shopping bags while buying grocery etc. plastic bags that are recyclable should be used. Drop-off locations and curbside pick-up programs for these plastics should be made available.

5. Each house owner should develop its own garbage collection system and Lucknow Nagar Nigam should ensure to regularly collect it. Biodegradable and non biodegradable wastes should be collected separately as it would facilitate their final disposal.

3. All the Bus stops should be facilitated with e-ticket machines and also getting the rail tickets from self service machines (like self check in of air lines) may also be installed. 4. Special Transport for Women with women drivers for insuring safety and security of Women.

1. The culture of using solar energy/power should be promoted as this will help in creating healthy and eco-friendly environment in Lucknow. 2. All industries, organizations and any other department, releasing the waste in Gomti should be asked to release only pollution free discharge in Gomti River. Strong legal measures should be taken against those not following the rules as well as monitoring by citizens for enforcing this should be carried out.
