New Town, Kolkata has been declared as a potential Smart City under the Smart Cities Mission, Government of India. To participate in Round-2 of the challenge of the smart city contest, a Smart City Proposal will be prepared after taking into consideration aspirations, visions, goals and smart solutions (low cost smart solutions, technology based smart solutions etc.) communicated by the citizens of New Town, Kolkata to make it a better place to live. For further details on Smart Cities Mission, citizens may visit the concerned website of Government of India i.e. smartcities.gov.in

In respect to smart city concept,business,economic,infrastructure development are OK, but, the real development of social harmony,human development,cultural development, etc.things are very important for peace,harmony and fruitfull helping nature of people.For that,there should be YOGA,SPIRITUAL,PRAYER CENTRE in CITY.There should be no crime & no accused,Jail should be paid & luxurious with all accommodation like AC,bed-sofa,pure bhojan-breakfast,TV but no mobile-net as per jail manual strictly

When it comes to the kirana shops in New Town, it's really less in numbers. I wish to see more of such shops here. It will be easier for the residents then.

I have been settled in the USA for the past 15 years and now my family wants me back to my hometown, my Kolkata. Well, I was searching for an apartment in New Town and now I think my search will be fruitful as I will get to stay in the most smart-est part of Kolkata. Thumbs up to the initiative!

For me, Wi-Fi plays a very important role. I hope that it is made available in the buses and bus stops and other public places in New Town. Hope the authorities are listening!

Being a resident of New Town, I would love to see this part of the city getting SMART in the true sense. a good transportation system, waste management system, and pollution control is what I wish to see in New Town in the coming years.
