Panaji is selected as the Smart City in Goa under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), GoI’s Smart City Mission. Panaji is required to formulate its own unique vision, ...
1. Garbage management is about not creating a garbage in the first place.concentrating on disposal WON'T WORK.
Step 1. BAN THE USE OF PLASTICS AS CARRY BAGS. 50% PROBLEM SOLVED. COME TO THE MARKET WITH YOUR OWN BAG. I DO. We don't need the government intervention for this . So get started from to-day.
2. Don't spit and Pee in public areas. We don't do that in our living room. make the city your living room.
Smart city is about smart people.
Smart people have concern for public areas. (garbage management)
Smart people have respect for others. (traffic management).
Smart people create great countries by their own efforts and dedication. not necessarily depending on the government for transformation. Each smart person can create a smart neighbourhood around his place of residence and work. we would have a smart city.
lets clean the surrounding by the side of Inox on Panaji Market Road. see pics
1. Garbage collection & garbage treatment should be in place.
2. Panaji requires efficient parking management.
3.24 hours water supply should be available.
4. Atithi devo bhav concept for attracting tourists to the city as well as punishments to the atithis for their wrong deeds.
5. Drainage system to be improved to avoid water logging.
6. Footpaths to made available for the pedestrians as its difficult to walk right now in the city.
7. Finance for maintenance of heritage houses.
Trash to cash model followed by Norway should be adopted

For Heritage Areas and buildings- 1) TDR for private property owners 2) Infrastructure upgradation- A) recharge and maintenance of wells,Fountains and lakes b) Maintenace of footpaths and lighting and signage 3) parking on outskirts of heritage zones 4)Self financing mechanism for maintenance of heritage buildings 5) Heritage cell in corporation with clear guidelines for adaptive reuse.
1. Important information for recycling: http://www.sciencealert.com/an-expert-reveals-you-ve-been-recycling-wrong-this-whole-time
2. Consider introducing electric bikes. They are super efficient and petrol free.
3. Check out Latvia as a case study on renewables.
Integrated Multi modal transport should be pursued aggressively to prevent Panaji getting gridlocked with vehicles. City for people not cars.
Mass Rapid Transit buses (solar powered) which should be low cost should ply within the city on all roads. No cars to be allowed in the city. Parking facility for cars to be made available at entry point. -This will improve air quality as emissions from vehicles will reduce.
Cleanliness at public buildings like markets, bus stands, govt. bldgs- awareness drives to sensitize people should be undertaken. Strict action like penalty should be imposed if anyone is found littering
1.There should be water supply 24 x 7
2.There are no proper health care facilities for Panaji. If anybody is ill, they need to be rushed to a private hospital as GMC is almost 8 kms Away from panaji.
3.Urban Health Centre is not functioning properly in Panaji.
4.Uninterrupted power supply which is not there in Panaji.
5.Removal of encroachments done by the private parties in Panaji city.
6.Affordable housing for poor people is required
If we do not work towards creating a sustainable city, not only smart but also resilient we are missing a huge opportunity to create a more vibrant and diverse city. We need constant innovation to solve all our city's problems such as the creek, garbage or poor roads. Things have not improved with the old way so let us try the smart way.
