The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

Mangaluru as a smart city should concentrate on green city and IT city. Trees should be grown alongside the roads which provide fresh air, oxygen and healthy environment. IT park will provide employment to thousands of Mangaloreans and allround progess of edcation, medical, infrastructure and transport facility will be achieved.

15. Most important of all 'MODERATION OF PRESS'. We do not want any coincidental occurrence to escalate into communal riots. Three thugs fighting each other should not be reported as hindu-muslim-christian riots

In 10-20 years from now, Mangaluru should be the Ultimate destination of green and clean environment with political, agricultural and economic growth which should set an example to other parts of the country. The water management, waste management should be the priority. Children, students and youngsters should be given awareness to create a plastic free environment. In future, Mangaluru should feel proud about the quality of road and the trees on the sides that helps to control the pollution.

8. Cut middle men and increase farmers markets
9. Self help groups and small scale industries for beggars
10. Mobile apps for availing government services
11. Banning use of loudspeakers and crackers especially in temples/ churches/ masjids (Religions are the root of most evils in Mangaluru)
12. Strict spaying and castration of stray animals and provision of animal shelters
13. Centralised auto rickshaw services
14. Strict dedicated cybercrime police wing to prevent credit card frauds

1. Good roads
2. 24 hours power supply, clean energy sources must be used- solar can be used for street lights
3. A special no nonsense committed police wing for communal/ other riots control
4. CCTV coverage for the whole CT and atleast major public spaces in the outskirts
5. Community centres with pools, indoor games, libraries
6. Vacation courses for children like computer education, coding, programming to enhance Digital India
7. Health services: High end equipments for Govt. hospital
