With challenges of rapid urbanisation ahead and the promise to conserve the green heritage of “City Beautiful”, Chandigarh Administration is always committed to create a clean and healthy environment for its resident, commuters & tourists. Eco-friendly & sustainable technologies will be focus of city under “Smart City Mission”.

As per the “Rank of Cities on Sanitation 2009-2010” Report (issued by Ministry of Urban Development, GoI) Chandigarh emerged as the cleanest city in India, with a rating of 73.48 points followed by Mysore in the second place with 70.65 points. However the Administration still strives for more better & effective solutions on sanitation and cleanliness which should come directly from its residents. The citizen consultation will give an important insight of the requirements& aspirations of the residents for Sanitation & Cleanliness Plan of Chandigarh.

So, the Chandigarh Administration hereby invites ideas, views, opinion and suggestions from the residents so that the objective of “Smart Sanitation & Cleanliness Solutions” could be achieved.

The sewage water treated can be used for watering the plants in the urban clusters. It can also be artificially infiltrated to bring up the ground water level. This inreturn will reduce the concentration of salts in hard water.

we should install dustbins which can even be used as a spit bin and public washrooms in an very busy areas so that the city surrounding can look good and i hope that roads also is included in this discussion so i add this one too that there should be a level road and all the pits should be covered so that the transportation runs in a smooth manner and there should be esclavator in skybridges used for crossing and it will also result in an easy transportation og goods from 1 corner to another

Chandigarh is a well planned city and has the highest number of senior citizens among its population. The things we can do are -
1. We can divide a sector into groups having not more than 100 families. Each group can be headed by a senior retired citizen who will be responsible for overlooking things, creating awareness, appointing members and accountable to authorities.
2. We can also create awareness among children by having classes in schools and making them aware about their city.

we should see to it there should be such factories in every state and bio degradable waste should be converted into compost{manure},whereas non bio degradable wastes such as thin paper boards, aluminum cans, bottles, plastic products, metal scraps, glasses, grocery bags or plastic bags and Styrofoam. These non-biodegradable items have to be stored properly post usage or they can be recycled.as Sudhir rawal mentioned about using gps technique should be followed
