Namami Tate Is a campaign brought to you by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Government of India. This campaign is part of the Government of India’s 75 week celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav. Through Namami Tate, we are targeting cleaning of some of the dirtiest beaches of India with the help of the Government as well as fellow citizens. Beaches play a fundamental role in maintaining the health of the oceans and also provide habitat to a number of marine species.

However, last year, a group of researchers from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) found that the north-east Arabian Sea, just off Mumbai, contained an estimated 379 MT of marine debris of which plastics contributed to 40.6% of the total by weight. A major portion of this debris washes up on the beaches creating health, environmental, economic as well as social hazards. The fast-paced growth of the tourism sector combined with the lack of awareness on the part of citizens about the damaging impact of pollution is one of the leading causes of the abysmal condition of our beaches. The Namami Tate campaign aims to clean these beaches and protect our precious marine biodiversity.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences invites suggestions from the citizens of India about the innovative ways in which we can conduct this beach cleaning activity. We value your suggestions which would be instrumental in implementing this campaign.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th August 2022.

Do not allow any plastic materials nearby beaches. Local street food stalls should use only paper plates and materials for serving food.

Invite volunteers, associations to participate beach cleaning activities and let one day close the beach for cleaning purpose. Give recognitions to those volunteers or associations for keeping the beach clean.

instead of imposing fine, let the people participate in such social activities and understand the importance. Only by doing one should value the importance.

We can also introduce some mandatory social involvement hours for every citizens less than 50 years of age. Those who complete this will get some privileges in government benefits.

As mentioned above Beaches play a fundamental role in maintaining the health of the oceans and also provide habitat to a number of marine species. So its our responsiblity to make our beaches clean and thus our nation.
First of all we have to ensure dust bin and appropriate waste management mechanism in area of beaches.
We can also prohibit use of plastics in those areas and can arrange fines.
We can also make use of sevices of NCC, NSS and other volunters in cleaning beaches...

Beaches can be made clean by following these 5 simple steps

1. Ensure big dustbins are placed every 100m.

2. Bring a law that anyone who litters in the beach will be fined minimum Rs.100. Please have a beach warriors ( police officers or others) who can patrol the beaches and issue fines/challans to people littering on the beach.

The second point is the most important because we Indians do not follow any law unless there is a sword hanging over our neck. People don't follow self discipline unless not following will lead to fines and penalties.

3. Have a dedicated place for food stalls.

4. Encourage schools/corporates to conduct beach cleaning drive once in a year to begin with. 1 school/corporate should do just once a year. Easily we can fill 365 days.

5. Place hoardings of "keep the beach clean " in various parts of the beach.

Thanks

Fix some money for the amount of trashes collected from the beaches and pay that money to some social cause (orphanage, old age homes etc.) - this will give encouragement for people to clean.
