We bring to you this wonderful news that our city-Pasighat has been selected under 23 fast track cities by Govt. of India and we need to submit the revised plan by 15th April 2016. As we know that we worked very hard in our previous attempt however unfortunately we missed coming in the first 20 list of cities and finished at 39th rank - missing by just 3 points. Let us take this as a positive feedback that we were very close to winning it and were far ahead of many other big cities.

Looking ahead, we need to work on the gaps identified by Govt. of India to revamp the proposal. One of the key weaknesses identified is SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat) analysis. Here, specifically, Weakness and Threat needs to be more elaborate. We have uploaded a discussion page on mygov portal about this aspect of proposal and need support of people of Pasighat to come up in big numbers and contribute towards this discussion. Let’s brace up for this challenge and work with renewed and reinvigorated spirit in the direction of making Pasighat a smart city.

The labour force working in water/wastewater and solid waste management facilities is primarily composed of men. Focus group and National Working Group participants felt the lack of female representation is due to poor marketing. Careers in both water/wastewater treatment and solid waste management are seen as male-dominated jobs, and though women have the skills to do the job, many are not aware of the career possibilities.

The labour force working in water/wastewater facilities is nearing retirement and many of the most critical positions are
going to be particularly affected. The industry, in general, is “top heavy” with a large portion of managers and senior personnel over the age of 50 years old. There was considerable mention in focus groups as well as the National Working Group that there will be a crunch for qualified practitioners once the current senior personnel retire.

The cost-saving factor together with the overall improvements in efficiency of LED streetlight technology are responsible for rapidly increasing sales and a growing amount of LED streetlight retrofitting projects worldwide, especially as street lighting accounts for a substantial part of a city’s energy bill.

With the publicity made related to proposed Smart city, people pictures it synonym to good road, continuous water supply, uninterrupted electricity a good looking robust infrastructure and a safer transportation and communication system. This feeling is to be redressed or taken care in submission of plan project.

Training and development opportunities fail to address core skills Training and professional development for practitioners in solid waste facilities tend to focus on technical aspects of
the industry. Many municipalities feel that administrative and communication skills are not adequately represented in their workforce due to the lack of suitable training opportunities in these areas.

Though there is street light provision but many a time we found dark after 9pm. With this proposal, we should give stress for street light.
