Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is responsible for managing the critical interface between the Government and Parliament, facilitating the smooth conduct of legislative business in both Houses. Though small in size, it plans, coordinates, and monitors the Government's business in Parliament, and helps other Ministries and Departments effectively carry out their parliamentary work.
The Ministry oversees the fulfilment of assurances made by Ministers on the floor of the House, constitutes Consultative Committees of Members of Parliament, and administers policies relating to the salaries, facilities, and welfare of Members of Parliament.
Beyond its administrative role, the Ministry promotes awareness of the parliamentary system through initiatives like the Youth Parliament Programme — strengthening the roots of democracy in India.
