The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

1. Install color-coded bins for wet, dry, recyclable, and temple waste. 2. Convert flower offerings into compost, incense sticks, or organic colors. 3. Replace plastic plates and cups with leaf-based, clay, or steel alternatives. 4. Set up free water refill stations to eliminate bottled water waste. 5. An online website can be made in order to promote the temple. Young influencers and entrepreneurs can be hired for advertising of the temple. The milk used during the Puja and Abhishek of Bhagwan Shiv can be further reused. The Shivling shall be connected through a thin pipe and some mesh which can filter the milk from flower petals and other things used during the worship. That milk can be stored in a container and further cleaned. In such a manner, several litres of milk can be conserved.

सूखा कचरा सही डस्टबिन में डालने पर भक्तों को QR कोड स्कैन करके डिजिटल सर्टिफिकेट या VIP दर्शन का कूपन दें। स्थानीय NCC, NSS और कॉलेज के छात्रों की टीम बनाएं। ये टीम कूड़ा फैलाने वालों को रोकेंगी और सही डस्टबिन की जानकारी देगी। प्लास्टिक बैनर की जगह कपड़े के बोर्ड और गेंदे के फूलों का इस्तेमाल करें। स्क्रैप मटेरियल से 'वेस्ट-टू-आर्ट' सेल्फी पॉइंट बनाएं।

चढ़े हुए फूलों (बेलपत्र, गेंदा) को अलग हरे डस्टबिन में इकट्ठा करें। स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHGs) इनसे अगरबत्ती या जैविक खाद बनाएं। दूध और जल के मिश्रण को पाइपलाइन के जरिए फिल्टर करके मंदिर के बगीचों और पेड़-पौधों में डाइवर्ट करें। भंडारों में प्लास्टिक की जगह स्टील की थाली या पत्तल-दोने का इस्तेमाल अनिवार्य करें। प्लास्टिक की बोतलों की जगह तांबे/स्टील के बर्तनों या मिट्टी के कुल्हड़ों में पानी दें। जगह-जगह वॉटर प्यूरीफायर लगाएं।

Batch digester made in bottle (15 liters).With in this bottle ,cow dung mixed with Ipomea carnea( convolvulaceae) (weeds grow along the ponds).The weeds are cut as much as small size.The ratio of cow dungEvery day, quintals of flowers and belpatra will be offered at the fair. For this, a small processing plant should be set up near the temple premises. 3.
