The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Kindly Find the attachment. This model transforms logistical challenges into spiritual contributions by treating waste as a resource. It builds on national best practices to create a localized, scalable, and technology-driven green religious gathering.

In keralam waste is collected from homes but still we can see in different roadsides waste is dumped. The main reason is there is no waste basket to put waste even though we have waste baskets in different places. Only a few people put waste in the waste basket. If we have big waste baskets placed in different places and even on highways for every one kilometer or two kilometer people can put waste in it while traveling. Placing a lot of waste baskets can cost a lot to the government  but we can

The Zero Waste Mahotsav at Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Temple can promote “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi” through plastic-free arrangements, eco-friendly materials, waste segregation, QR-based services, and youth volunteer participation. Awareness campaigns, composting of temple waste, reusable water systems, and sustainable tourism practices can make Baghpat a national model for green religious celebrations. — Ayush H. Dharme

“Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi” can become a national model through a Zero Waste Temple System at Pura Mahadev. Biodegradable puja materials, QR refill water stations, smart bins and GPS-based cleaning can reduce waste effectively. Temple flower waste may be converted into compost and incense products through local self-help groups. NCC/NSS volunteers can guide devotees on cleanliness and waste segregation, making the festival spiritually pure and environmentally responsible.
