Also I have one more suggestion. Passport when renewed should not have different number on it. If we consider it as an ID , it should have same digit everytime we renew. We provide our passport number to the country we a residing and its a pain to update the details each and everytime we renew. Also we have to carry all of our passports(renewed and old one) together for verification.Identical passport numbers will help reduce forgery of passports as well.

I have noticed one thing, its easier to renew passport outside INDIA then in INDIA. One of my friend did not have enough documents needed to renew passport in INDIA however he could easily do it from Australia. Renewal of passport or getting a passport in INDIA is pain. We should all join hands and work on it

Why do we have long delays in getting the passports renewed/issues while we are in India while we get a excellent service abroad. The performance of the outsourced agency have to be re looked and stern action taken on the deviation from the contractual terms.

Indian embassies really need to be organized and efficient in handling visa and OCI proceses. based on own experience especially at Texas and Atlanta emabbasy staff is very rude and treat us like we are beggers and doing big favor by issuing Indian visa and OCI. The agencies which work for them have lost my and other family members paperwork twice and had to personally visit them in order to get everything cleared which took months. My cousin's OCI still peding from 1.5 years.

Overseas Citizens of India especially from Hong Kong do not have any social security and/or substantial retirement benefits like pension etc. (Mandatory Provident Fund was started in Hong Kong only a decade ago). In order to earn a decent interest income to supplement their living costs in their country of residence, it would be a booster to retiring Senior citizens to invest their savings in 100 per cent secured deposits with fully tax free and repatriable interest income on monthly basis.

Problem: Unacceptable delays with Passport renewals and Visa applied at Indian Missions abroad (Specific - San Francisco U.S.A).

Recommendations:
1. Stop outsourcing of immigration work.
2. Hold the agency accepting the application accountable for a timely completion of the application.
3. Put in place SLAs and the mechanism to enforce the SLAs.
4. Create a process for accepting complaints that will actually be trackers and acted upon.

Concerns- OCI and PIO.
1. Making under one platform, kindly allow the existing people to have the card till it expires (please do not force to pay more on OCI/PIO just for the sake of new program)
2. For OCI, heavy fees charged just to renounce the Indian Passport, which all of us feel unfair.
3. Clear (common- every place same) Instructions avoiding delay and confusion on documents and submission
4. Do not allow the private firms make lot of money out of it. All NRE/OCI are not very rich

NRI pay heavy SSN taxes in other countries like US but they go temporarily there and come back to India after sometime. Indian government should start something like 401k and share 80/20 or whatever with US and other government to transfer tax amount to indian tax account.

India should start retirement benefit like 401k.

1) When you return back to India face the issues with Custom Clearance. Few people takes the bribe and allow to go via green channel.
Suggestion: There should be mechanism at the airport that this people should be arrested and there should be only 1 way to pass all the people.

2) Applying and getting Passport is now a days very easy but only time consuming process is Police verification.
Suggestion: Instead of police verification we should link passport with Adhar card and verify details.

Concern: Unfriendly immigration/airport staff at specific airports - won't even smile at you and makes you feel unwelcome.

Please train staff to treat visitors/tourists with respect, pose friendly attitude, be helpful and professional and most of all make them feel welcome. And if this can be extended to the travel and tourism industry as a whole - that would be a dream come true.
