Expats have lot to give to India...Change has to happen fro grass roots level and that is at all levels of government offices and Education Institutions under the government control. OCI holders and NRI's should be employed at important positions to bring a attitude change in the working culture. At the moment OCI and NRI's cannot apply to any government jobs.

In case of loss of passport proper support should be given from the corresponding Indian Embassy. Currently, I lost my passport. Unfortunately, even after giving all required documents including my voter id card. My passport was only issued for a temporary period. As research scientist I need to travel to different countries and with such condition on my passport makes it difficult. This is hindrance to my scientific career. I think the process for verification should be faster!

Unlike other countries, Indian born US Citizens, do not enjoy dual citizenship. To address this issue - Indian govt. created many schemes such as OCI, PIO, etc. Most of us have a bad story to tell dealing with the contractors of India embassy - BLS, Cox Kings, Travisa, etc. Add to that - the PM announced yet another scheme today, combining OCI, PIO. It is best to just accept our valid Indian passport for all purposes instead of devising such schemes and spending ours and govt. funds.

indian embessay in manila should be facelifted. Its in a dismal situation. a/c not working , poor hygiene. rude behaviour of guards at the entrance. What reputation we have if foreigners enter for our embessy for visa or other service? to solve this fees should be incresed marginally to facelift the embessey infrastructure and should employ/hire polite and well qualifed staff. "ATTITHI DEVO BHAVA " attitude should be there in the embessy.thanks

In philippines , every month we hear news about indians being killed. The actual figures are far more than the official figures. I think the ministry of foreign affairs should talk to their counterparts and ask for safety of their citizens. 2ndly, indian foreign mininistry should issue the alert level if the indian citizens safety is compromised.

Indian business people living abroad have been a lucrative target for police. I used to conduct business for a few millions of Euros in India and promote more because of my burning desire to do something for my country. I was put in Tihar jail for three weeks and spent almost Rupees 2 crores Rs 20 Million to fight my case in Delhi High Court. I guess I was the Judge noticed that in the complaint of 500 pages not a single statement from me existed. I lost Euro 12 Millions in this fiasco.

Expatriates death occurs due to accidents or health reasons. Some of them are jailed. Sometimes these people are very poor and their families suffer a lot after their death. Try to make more and more members in ICBF initiative by Indian Embassy which helps such people who are in need.
