Children are very fond of films. They should be taught through audio-visual media and through documentary films created by experts. They should be inspired and motivated regularly to learn. Through documentary films they should be taught about good manners, habits for health and cleanliness.

As a teacher of higher education myself, the AGM of PTA of my daughters college (Ethiraj College, Chennai), that I attended yesterday was a present surprise. Atleast by next year University or UGC should arrange for video graphing of the same to showcase to other institutions the very best practice of this college that has survived many odds to excel by virtue of many such best practices.

A very small effort is to establish creative libraries. Kind of eve classes ,group of 5-10 educated graduates can start evenng clases for poor children where they can teach children not only subjects but create awareness about rights & duties. It should not be like daily school but interactive, children driven class with videos etc to make it interesting. Awareness about social ills will create a pool of extremely aware future generation. skill develpmnt cn b an add on for higher age group.

Punjab Government has waived off all the fee of the girl child across all government schools till 12th standard. Also they have introduced Mai Bhago Scheme of providing free cycles to the +1, +2 girls. However this scheme needs a modification that it should be provided to the girls to all the upper class girls say from 6th to 12th and to priority to those who are from far flung areas - more than 2 kms.
