The Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) is proposing a national programme to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The vision of Digital India is centred on three key areas, namely by providing digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, providing governance & services on demand and digital empowerment of citizens. This task seeks inputs to design a Logo for Digital India initiative. The last date of submission is 1st September 2014. The winning entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

The symbol denotes "@ of Bharat", as it denotes the recently launched ".bharat" domain and "@" signifies the digital part of India.
Ficus religiosa (Peepal)-A symbol of growth, harmony, connection, unity, variety is abstracted to the digital form, signifying the connection of society with digital empowerment. Each of these cultural values of INDIA are blended in a self-contained form to depict our self-sufficiency. The veins of leaf connected to each other represents our infrastructure and prosperity. All the elements collectively representing INDIA in a route to Digital Empowerment.
Cloud service is changing the digital world. Docs, Multimedia, & all kinds of files are stored & shared through cloud. No doubt that in very near future the usage will go large. Cloud with Tri-colored circuit paths represents digital world. Since it's 'Umbrella Mission', shape of cloud is given as umbrella. 3 paths were chosen because of Tiranga & 3 key areas of the mission. Chakra represents the Sun. Where the sun shines with cloud, the place is called India. Here it’s Digital India
