As a sr.media person and planner its known fact that IRF rewards and champions best practice in river basin management through the International, Australian and European Riverprizes. From the Danube River in Europe, to the Mekong River in South-East Asia, and the St Johns River in the United States, the IRF has a far reaching network. So these facts must be taken in to account while implementing Clean ganga mission and connecting rivers project may be on way.Expert hydrologists opinion be taken.

International RiverFoundation works in partnerships around the world to fund and promote the sustainable restoration and management of river basins. As an international dynamic public benefit organisation, we have a life-changing impact on individuals and communities. By helping restore and sustainably manage rivers we have achieved improved health, ecological, economic, and social outcomes for people and the environment.CLEAN GANGA MISSION MUST CONSIDER THOSE FACTS OF TOP MOST PRIORITY .

The Clean Ganga project must deeply introspect the root hypothecation that there needs to be a catchment-wide perspective if the needs of human populations, river habitats and wildlife are to reach a sustainable balance. Against this backdrop, the development of river conservation strategies has become a global imperative.River and geo-experts must have an indepth view of this fact while peeping deep int o the plans chalked out for implementing the aforesaid issue .

In a global plan it was mentioned that as population increases, the rate of rural-urban migration grows. It is estimated that 6.4 billion people will be living in urban areas by 2050, up from 3.4 billion in 2010. This rapid growth, if not adequately dealt with through proactive planning and inancing, poses a further challenge to water quality. Inadequate infrastructure as well as poor maintenance of existing ones leads to problems in the management of municipal authourities. This is IMP.

Global best practices that have been adopted across the world to clean big rivers include Impacts of climate change – such as frequent/ prolonged loods and droughts- pose further challenges to water quality; in addition to the growing sources of pollution. Increased human population as well as the changing production and consumption patterns have seen an upsurge of industrial processes, mining, agriculture, and urbanization with the resultant release of heavy metals, radioactive elements.

Parana River in Brazil which supplies drinking water to the city of Sao Paulo. The river’s water quality declined as a result of intensive deforestation at its headwaters causing the rainwater to wash the soil away and building up sediment that affected the quality of the river’s water. A programme was developed with the help of the Nature Conservancy to motivate farmers and ranchers to plant trees in riparian areas to provide technical assistance on reforestation, soil conservation .

The quality of the water originating in the watersheds of the Catskill Mountains that feeds into the water supply of New York city was declining in the 1980s due to agriculture and other development in the watersheds. Instead of building a massive water treatment facility to provide water for the over 9 Mio users at a cost of US$ 4-6 billion, an integrated water resources management approach was adopted at a cost of US$ 1 billion. This global decision t be considered in context to the plans.

Global best practices that have been adopted across the world to clean big rivers hsve indepth study of Water quality is key to human and ecosystem health, and there are numerous add-on benefits to improving water quality: improved ecosystems and ecosystem services, improived health, and improved livelihoods.hence the plans in Inda also should be made in accordance with this nucleus principle. This hypothessis along with subject experts' views must be accomodated while chalking out the plans.

Water is the basis of life on earth. This alaso base philosophy of active interventions adopted as aglobal phenomena for cleaning big rivers in the world. The quality of life directly depends on water quality. Good water quality sustains healthy ecosystems and hence leads to improved human well-being. However, poor water quality affects the environment and human well-being. For example waterborne diseases cause the death of more than 1.5 million children each year. Plans are made accordingly.

One of the global practice that is adopted across the world relate to the fact that the quality of water resources is increasingly threatened by pollution. Human activity over the past 50 years is responsible for unprecedented pollution of water resources in history. It is estimated that over 2.5 billion people globally live without adequate sanitation.Every day, 2 million tons of sewage and other effluents drain into the world’s waters. This global perception is base of worldwide adoption.
