Membrane bio reactor is a very fruitful technology adopted across the world for sewage treatment. It can be adopted in our country too. NRCD should install the STPs based on this technology across major rivers (high untreated sewage input) so that sewage being discharged is free from major pollutants.

Floating bed of Indian Khus Grass (vetiver) cleans up Manila river : http://www.takepart.com/article/2014/06/03/floating-grass-billboard-can-suck-pollution-out-filthy-rivers Why not Ganga river cleanup as well. The grass itself is native to India, so no introduction of foreign species problem. It cleans up 30,000 Litres of water peer day. The grass traps debris and absorbs nitrates, phosphates, heavy metals like lead, and agricultural chemicals from water.
