India's farmers and artisans are the backbone of our nation. From fertile fields and traditional crafts to local industries and cultural heritage, they embody the spirit of self-reliance, skill, innovation, and perseverance that defines Bharat.
The Ministry of Commerce via Nirmit Bharat’s govt-backed app DigiHaat - in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to participate in the "Kisan aur Karigar: Faces of Bharat" Photography Competition.
This Competition aims to capture authentic stories of India's farmers, artisans, craftsmen, weavers, makers, and local communities through compelling photographs. Participants are encouraged to document the people, places, traditions, and skills that contribute to India's rich cultural and economic heritage.
Photographs may showcase artisans and farmers at work, local crafts and industries, One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives, heritage skills, traditional occupations, rural entrepreneurship, and the vibrant spirit of local communities across India.
Objectives of the Photography Competition:
1. To celebrate the contribution of India's farmers, artisans, craftsmen, and local entrepreneurs to nation-building.
2. To showcase India's rich cultural artisanal heritage, traditional knowledge systems, and local industries.
3. To promote awareness of One District One Product (ODOP) and region-specific crafts and agricultural practices.
4. To encourage citizens to document and preserve stories of local communities through photography.
5. To inspire pride in India's Swadeshi heritage, craftsmanship, and agricultural excellence.
6. To create a visual archive that reflects the diversity, resilience, and creativity of Bharat.
Themes:
Participants may submit photographs under one or more of the following themes:
1. Farmers and Agriculture
2. Artisans and Craftsmanship
3. ODOP Products and Local Industries
4. Heritage and Traditional Occupations
5. Rural Entrepreneurship
6. Women Farmers and Women Artisans
7. Youth Preserving Traditional Skills
8. Local Markets and Community Livelihoods
9. Cultural Skill Heritage Linked to Livelihoods
10. The Spirit of Swadeshi Bharat
Guidelines for Participants:
1. The photograph must be original and captured by the participant.
2. Photographs should authentically represent the contest theme.
3. Basic editing such as cropping, colour correction, exposure adjustment, and sharpening is permitted.
4. AI-generated images, heavily manipulated images, composites, or digitally altered photographs that misrepresent reality are strictly not permitted.
5. Participants must obtain consent from individuals featured prominently in the photograph wherever applicable.
6. Photographs must not contain watermarks, signatures, logos, timestamps, borders, or promotional content.
7. Images should be submitted in JPEG/JPG or PNG format.
8. Minimum image resolution should be 3000 pixels on the longer side.
9. Participants may submit up to three photographs.
10. Each submission must include in the Photograph Name in the description:
a) Photograph title
b) Location
c) Name of artisan/farmer/community (if consent has been obtained)
d) Name of Participant

11. Photographs must be respectful and uphold the dignity of the individuals and communities represented.
12. Entries focusing on poverty, hardship, or distress solely for emotional appeal may be disqualified.
13. The photograph should not infringe upon the rights of any third party.
14. Entries previously awarded in national-level competitions are not eligible.
15. The decision of the jury shall be final and binding.
Evaluation Criteria:
Entries will be evaluated on:
• Relevance to Theme – 25%
• Storytelling and Emotional Impact – 25%
• Creativity and Originality – 20%
• Technical Quality – 15%
• Representation of India's Heritage and Swadeshi Spirit – 15%
Gratification:
1. The first winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000.
2. The second winner will receive a cash prize of ₹5,000.
3. The third winner will receive a cash prize of ₹3,000.
4. We will award five honorable mentions who will each receive a cash prize of INR 1,000 each.
5. Top 3 winners may be invited to attend a national-level government event.
6. Winning photographs will be featured on official DigiHaat app, DigiHaat social media platforms, some exhibitions or publications and awareness campaigns.
7. Selected photographs may be displayed during national events, ODOP showcases, cultural exhibitions, and public outreach initiatives. The winners will be informed if such an event takes place and will be credited with their name on such events.
