Identify locations, public buildings or areas in your locality which can be made friendlier for the differently-abled. Click photographs of the location and suggest measures which the local authorities can adopt to make it more disable-friendly. Make your locality a role-model for the entire country to follow!
In ludhiana we have a school where normal and specially abled student are studing under same roof.In this school they are motivatinin specially abled student to make their capability as their strength instead of disability as their weakness. Here are some:- photos:computer education, fine motor activities, individual education, sports activity etc
MOTIVATE :-Motivate them with the thought that they can do it .As we know that Each one of us has different capabilities so instead of making disabilities as weakness make capability as a strength.
SPOON FEED: No more spoon feed .For example if they are in some problem so ask them how they think a situation should be handled, rather than telling them how to handle it.
Encourageing them to take a decision. emphassing them they have reached a decision now they need to act on it
If we see any disabled person crossing the road, we should help him/her in that. We should not show pity on that person but to show that he/she can do anything like any other normal person. We should motivate the person.
We can make different counter in banks, different dipartments in colleges which provide them knowledge to survive as a common people ,developing thair skills by special education
We Should try to create automatic ladder just like high ways on the railway platforms specially for physically handicrapts.
When I paied my attention on railway platforms,I felt that their is no arrangements for personally unfit people to go one platform to another.
i have identify that there is problem of special recruitment drive for differently abled. while searching of job is difficult when compete with other hence need seprate employement registration and special recruitment drive for them in which only the differently abled persons will participate, also need on job skill development courses for making the life easier.
1. Pathways must be developed in all the streets and encroachments removed
2. Build mandatory ramps and lifts in all public buildings including Railways stations, bus stations, Hospitals, offices
3. All the streets intersections shall have lines on the road wherein specially abled people can cross
4. Traffic rule that all the vehicles shall stop within limited distance of crossing specially abled person
5. Mandatory toilets and water facilities for specially aged people
1. Special passages & ramps must be built on road sides for specially abled people. 2. Toilets & water drinking places must be built according to their comfort. 3. Lifts must be built at public places with multi-storey buildings & at private buildings where specially abled people are employed. 4. On high traffic roads, there must be volunteers to help people to cross the roads. 5. TV shows must be started for people who cannot speak where actors can express their views in actions.
I belong to Mulund East Mumbai, i have personally gone to these areas and did a survey which brought me to a conclusion that none of the place except for one ATM and one grocery shop accessible. Attaching pictures of the same. And there are places where ramps are there but uncivilised people like us...park their car there...what to expect.
