As part of Adoption Awareness Month 2026, the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov India, launched this Poster Making Competition to raise awareness about the theme "No Shortcuts to Parenthood, Only Legal Adoption".

Despite a robust legal framework under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2021), instances of direct and illegal adoptions continue to occur often through:
      1. Hospitals & nursing homes
      2. Unregistered childcare arrangements
      3. Middlemen, agents, or online/social media platforms
Roadside abandonment followed by informal custody

Such practices violate child rights, bypass safeguards, and expose children and families to legal, ethical, and safety risks. This campaign aims to educate, prevent, detect, and deter illegal adoption practices while promoting legal adoption through Mission Vatsalya Portal as the only lawful pathway.

      Themes for Poster Design: -
      1. No Shortcuts to Parenthood - Only Legal Adoption
      2. Direct adoption is illegal—choose the legal path
      3. Protecting child rights through legal adoption
      4. Say NO to illegal adoption practices

Let your creativity spark conversations that matter. Your poster can inform, inspire, and influence change, helping build a society where every child finds a safe and loving home through legal adoption.

      Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be assessed based on the following parameters
      1. Originality & Creativity – Uniqueness of the idea and innovative presentation of the message
      2. Clarity & Simplicity – Ease of understanding and effectiveness of communication through visuals
      3. Relatability & Impact – Ability to connect with the audience and create awareness
      4. Alignment with the Theme – Relevance to the theme “No Shortcuts to Parenthood — Only Legal Adoption”

      Gratifications
The Top 15 Winners will be rewarded with the Rs 3000/- each

Legal adoption is more than giving a child a home—it is a promise of safety, dignity, and a secure future. Following the legal adoption process protects children from exploitation, trafficking, and unsafe arrangements. It ensures that every adoption is properly verified and recognized by law. Choose the legal path, protect a child’s rights, and build a family with love and responsibility.

The poster gives a clear message: There are no shortcuts to parenthood. Illegal or direct adoption can put children at risk and violate their rights. Adoption must be done only through the legal process and the Mission Vatsalya/CARA system, ensuring every child a safe, secure and loving family.

No Shortcuts to Parenthood — Only Legal Adoption This poster spreads awareness about the importance of legal adoption and encourages people to reject every form of illegal adoption. The central idea is that becoming a parent should always happen through the legal process, which protects the rights, safety, and future of every child. The poster uses two contrasting paths. The left side is dark and broken, representing illegal adoption through hospitals, nursing homes, unregistered childcare arrangements, middlemen, social media platforms, and informal custody. It symbolizes danger, exploitation, and the violation of child rights. The right side is bright and hopeful, showing a family walking with a child toward a safe home. This represents the legal adoption process through the Mission Vatsalya Portal under the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). The message highlights that legal adoption is safe, transparent, child-centric, and recognized by law. It ensures proper counselling, registration, home study, child matching, and post-adoption support, giving every child the opportunity to grow up in a loving and secure family. Through realistic visuals and a strong emotional message, this poster aims to educate the public, discourage illegal adoption practices, and inspire families to choose the lawful path. Message: Every Child. Every Right. Every Time. Say NO to Illegal Adoption. Choose Legal Adoption through Mission Vatsalya.

This poster is designed to create awareness about legal adoption under the theme “No Shortcuts to Parenthood – Only Legal Adoption.” The bold typography and high-contrast yellow, teal blue, and white colour palette ensure strong visibility and immediate communication. The child silhouette and open doorway symbolize hope, safety, and a secure future through the legal adoption process. The design emphasizes that every child deserves protection, identity, rights, dignity, and a safe family environment. Supporting visual elements reinforce the importance of choosing the lawful adoption pathway and encourage prospective parents to follow the official CARA/Mission Vatsalya process. The overall design is modern, impactful, positive, and suitable for public awareness campaigns.
