I am successfully running "a community based sustainable rural tourism project" www.bannikherafarm.com " in my village-Samargopalpur-Haryana. The project is supporting 25 individual/families with new job opportunity and additional income. I have another wonderful concept on rural tourism which can offer job and new income generation option to at least 100 people in my village.but to execute the project i need government support. pls tell officer name and contact for presenting my project idea :)

Eco tourism is a method of visiting untouched natural areas, which are rich in flora and fauna. The main motive of eco-tourism is to reduce the effect of tourists visiting that place. This can be achieved by building environmental awareness, preserving the environment and also empowering the local communities. The local communities keep the culture alive and it is important that every tourist contributes in the upliftment and the conservation of these communities.

We have lot of hidden treasures in our villages. I would suggest that we Set up Tourist information centers(this place will have trained personal, leaflets, road maps etc) for every 100 km. on High ways and major land mark connecting roads. Travelers can have a break (rest) and also find out about the places of interest along their rout. The type of information can range from Historic land marks, local dishes, places to stay, places to eat. etc. It could be run through money from adv. locally

For promoting rural tourism we can start by Starting special "Gram Darshan Seva" which take tourists to various 10-12 places identified as 'can become good tourist spot' having some special features as historical importance , number of people gathering on special occasions etc in the villages of a town, by a village motor vehicle which give them a feel of life of a Gramin of that area, we can get them dressed in the dress of that particular area, they like it very much.

Agro-tourismo in Italy and Sleep on hay in Switzerland are two models to benchmark. I have experienced both and the attraction in each of this case is the opportunity to experience rural environment in its purest form. The success depends on when both host and tourist feel safe, respected and their social behaviors are not violated. Sites like VRBO and Homeaway have attracted millions of vacation homeowners to rent, a similiar platform can be developed via e-tourism for rural development.

We have a rich heritage but for preserving ancient structures we need money & manpower. This can be achieved by identifying structures and widely publicizing them along with their historical background & making them accessible to tourist. Gram panchayats can actively participate by charging tourists and imparting historical significance of structure. With this money structures can be maintained and jobs can be created. Below are pictures of a fascinating well at Limb village, Satara, Maharashtra

The best way to promote rural tourism is to give rural experience in a clean, safe and hygenic manner. E.g. http://www.guatemala365.com/ Gautemala has since decades have had live in spanish classes. Here tourist can stay with local family and learn spanish, cooking and culture in a safe & clean environment. Statistics and data on various homes are readily available thus promoting competition amongst host to provide better service. A similiar experience can be provided in Patan - Gujarat.
