The Income Tax Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens across India to participate in the "Short Video/Reel Competition on Responsible Taxation and Nation Building" as part of the celebrations of the 167th Income Tax Day on 24th July 2026.
The competition aims to encourage citizens to create engaging, informative, and impactful short videos or reels that promote the importance of responsible taxation and its contribution to nation-building. Through creative storytelling, participants can spread awareness about the role of taxpayers in strengthening the nation's economy and supporting inclusive and sustainable development.
Paying taxes is a vital civic responsibility that enables the Government to invest in public infrastructure, education, healthcare, social welfare, national security, and economic development. This competition provides an opportunity for citizens to creatively communicate how responsible taxation contributes to building a stronger, self-reliant, and developed India.
Participants are encouraged to create original reels or short videos highlighting themes such as responsible taxation, honest tax compliance, voluntary tax payment, the contribution of taxpayers to nation-building, public welfare through tax revenues, financial transparency, and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Entries may use storytelling, interviews, animation, motion graphics, creative visuals, or informative presentations to effectively communicate these messages.
This initiative aims to inspire citizens, taxpayers, students, professionals, content creators, and digital influencers to become ambassadors of responsible taxation and encourage greater public awareness about the importance of tax compliance in national development.
Eligibility:
• The competition is open to Indian citizens only.
• Participation is open to content creators, influencers, students, professionals, taxpayers, and the general public.
• There is no entry fee for participation.
Submission Guidelines:
• Create an original short video/reel of 30–60 seconds or max 2 minutes.
• Upload the reel on a public Instagram account or YouTube Shorts.
• Submit the public video link through the MyGov portal.
• Each participant may submit only one entry.
• The video must be original and should not have been previously published on any public platform.
• Videos may be recorded in MPEG4 or AVI format.
• Recommended aspect ratio: 16:9 / 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic (SDV/HDV).
• Content must not contain offensive language, defamatory material, or violate any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.
• Entries not complying with the prescribed guidelines shall be rejected.
Prize Structure:
1st Prize – ₹10,000/-
2nd Prize – ₹7,000/-
3rd Prize – ₹5,000/-
