How can the latest advances in digital technologies, including use of mobile phones, big data analytics and other information technology solutions be deployed in Smart Cities. The entries may be in descriptive answer types and may use pictures or videos to explain the answers better.
All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
Questions
1. List three municipal services that can be improved with the use of a mobile phone.
2. Describe 3 aspects of your daily life that have improved with the use of the mobile phone.
3. Suggest 5 ways in which the use of big data can make Indian cities into smart cities.
4. Mention 3 new ways that information technology can improve Governance.
5. How can access to information and data make our public spaces safe and secure?
Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)
Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize

The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot

• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

Tag all services of municipal services like water, electricity, sanitation, drainage,etc with Facebook and use it for complaint redressal.

For a IT managed Smart City so people can use their smartphone for good Govt service we need Data nexus of all things in city. Infrastructures needed : 1. Whole city Wifi 2. Smartcity App based on a Map and layers of service like bus timing, Govt offices etc 3. sensors on public transports for their location and timing. Street lights ON/OFF. 4. RF transmitters in Public and Private veh license plate for tracking them around city.

Use of tablet with internet connectivity in updating berth/seats availability in running train in case of passengers not travel or anyway.

3. Govt can use Big data tools to understand more about demographic and provide us with a feedback that would help in Urban planning. By analyzing millions of transactions to find patterns of govt revenue and receipts. Analyzing weather data to help farmers sow the right seeds at the right time Analysing trends in agricultural commodity in real time to alert farmers on when they should stock up stuff.

2. Mobile have provided us with the ability to communicate digitally from most anywhere. Mobile have put a camera in one's pocket to capture events and happenings easily. Mobile have put computers in our pockets that can perform a lot of pretty neat functions for us. Mobile have simplified many point-of-purchase scenarios and provided us with the ability to view menus, make dining decisions and reservations while en-route.
