How can the latest advances in digital technologies, including use of mobile phones, big data analytics and other information technology solutions be deployed in Smart Cities. The entries may be in descriptive answer types and may use pictures or videos to explain the answers better.
All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
Questions
1. List three municipal services that can be improved with the use of a mobile phone.
2. Describe 3 aspects of your daily life that have improved with the use of the mobile phone.
3. Suggest 5 ways in which the use of big data can make Indian cities into smart cities.
4. Mention 3 new ways that information technology can improve Governance.
5. How can access to information and data make our public spaces safe and secure?
Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)
Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize

The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot

• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

#SmartCities Ans5: 1.Using data to identify unsafe areas in city by analysing crime data. 2.Identifying citizens who are most likely to cause disturbance or who are most likely to be victim. 3.Provide with realtime feedback to the emergency situations.

#SmartCities Though access to information gives more transparency, registration with mobile number should be made mandatory to public to avoid unnecessary usages.

#SmartCities Ans4: 1.By participating in budgetary process people can increase accountability of government. 2.People can submit policy proposals via mobile, video or face to face basis and make govt accountable. 3.Realtime feedback about services or problems.

#SmartCities Ans3: 1.To address gaps in school and student performance, student safety, and job preparedness. 2.To sort and classify citizens in group and address their problems separately. 3.Using speech analytics, we can improve interaction between employees and citizens. 4.Using big data on power usage we can improve supply of power or give different plans according to their need. 5.To better coordinate responses, anticipate crimes, provide efficient social services.

#SmartCities 4.Arrival and departure time of town/city buses could be managed via online system in such a way that if the registered users want to check the arrival of the bus on time they should be able to do so by sending a message or by visiting the online system. Help centers could be established to check the expected arrival of the buses.
