How can the latest advances in digital technologies, including use of mobile phones, big data analytics and other information technology solutions be deployed in Smart Cities. The entries may be in descriptive answer types and may use pictures or videos to explain the answers better.
All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
Questions
1. List three municipal services that can be improved with the use of a mobile phone.
2. Describe 3 aspects of your daily life that have improved with the use of the mobile phone.
3. Suggest 5 ways in which the use of big data can make Indian cities into smart cities.
4. Mention 3 new ways that information technology can improve Governance.
5. How can access to information and data make our public spaces safe and secure?
Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)
Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize

The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot

• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

Q4. Mention 3 new ways that information technology can improve Governance. Ans:1.Accessibility-By providing broad band internet,connecting all the urban & rural govt. office and nodal centers where people can get the information when needed. 2.Big-Data collection can be used to analyze and monitor the demands of citizens and delivered to them. 3.Nodal information centers can be developed to directly interact with the administrator/decision makers using video–conferencing tools in rural areas.

Suggest 5 ways in which the use of big data can make Indian cities into smart cities. 1.Weather forecasting:Big data analyzing in forecasting weather reports such as rainfall,dry seasons etc. 2.Healthcare:Analyzing data of patient,better identification and treatment of diseases.3.Intelligent Transport system:Use of CCTV network for monitoring traffic. 4.Environment:Big data to measure humidity,noise temperature,CO2 levels.5.Resource Management-Energy/water:monitor usage of resources.
