Help us make Digital Locker better by providing your valuable feedback, comments and suggestions.

Digital Locker is a key initiative under Digital India program. It is an online application that aims at eliminating the use of physical documents and enables sharing of verified electronic documents across various agencies. Digital Locker provides a dedicated personal storage space in the cloud to citizens, linked to citizen’s Aadhaar number. It will enable various organizations registered on Digital Locker to push certificates of citizens directly in their Digital Locker in electronic format. Citizens can also upload and securely store the scanned copies of legacy documents in Digital Locker. These legacy documents can be electronically signed using eSign facility. A citizen can share these electronic certificates online with various departments and agencies registered on Digital Locker while applying for the services provided by them. Thus, Digital Locker brings the citizens, issuers and requestors on one platform and reduces administrative overhead of agencies by eliminating paperwork. It will also make it easy for the residents to receive services by saving time and effort.

And the digital locker completely relies on Aadhaar and mobile number OTP. Mobile numbers are changed very often, therefore please make changing mobile numbers and email ids in the Aadhar portal easier using a password or something

its much easier to introduce the digital locker, but much harder to enforce its usage across all departments. Government offices should be educated to use digital locker facility. Multiple backups of digital lockers may help. Plus plus top notch security would help avoid misuse.

Penetration Testing and Security review should be done periodically to improve the security of Digital Locker because it contains the valuable documents of citizens. Design a Security policy to protect the Digital Locker.

DigiLocker needs to be protected against any malicious use and all required cyber security measures should be in place. This is one of the biggest risk associated with the DigiLocker. The day DigiLocker is hacked nobody will trust it then onwards. Periodic security reviews and audits should be done and best possible consultants should be hired for ensuring that the security is not breached at any cost.
