Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Earlier government had failed to understand the true sense of women empowerment and present government is repeating the same blunders. Already 98000 men suicide every year in India. Biased laws, biased judiciary, biased system against men are responsible for such a mass killing of innocent men. Government should empower humanity, togetherness and unity among it's citizens. Family system is already collapsed due to feminism and fake empowerment acts of previous govt. Pl don't repeat it

It seems through this policy nice wants to destroy family culture.w by they r only concerned about wives why they r not thinking abt children. What is the use of creating wcd if they r concerned only for promotion of legal terrorism. Wcd stop this legal terrorism.

The govt has provided enough of protection to women by providing existing gender biased laws and is to the extend that they misuse it and walk away freely. The need of the hour to prevent the misuse of available laws and not making of new laws which would completely destroy the fabric of marriages and relationships.

It's high time to recognize that all the policies which are made keeping only women in mind have fallen flat on their face even worse is that they have been misused by women. Talk of 498A , Domestic Violence Act and many more can be cited as examples. Infact there is high percentage of false RAPE cases by women which is a BIG SHAME. Let's promote equality and not REVENGE by a particular gender on another gender especially under the influence of few ill-minded people. JAI HIND.

There has been a dramatic increase in women empowerment in the past couple of decades and I think this grouth is sustainable. There are enough laws already to empower women and in some cases to over power men to such an extent that even a street dog feels safer. Women today are much safer, more educated and have more privillages than few decades ago. I believe men's rights are being crushed due to vote bank politics . Which should be condemned by all.
PLEASE WORK ON GENDER NEUTRALITY - SAVE MEN!

5. (II) (vii) This is blatant lie and misrepresentation. Maximum number of labour is men in industries mentioned in point. Only with an intent to discriminate against male child & fathers this point is being propagated.

5. (II) (ix) Grounds for lower enrolment & retention in schools in rural & remote areas are similar for boys and girls. Why need to discriminate by providing transport only to girl child.
