India can strengthen AI semiconductor R&D by developing an open, programmable edge-AI accelerator platform based on RISC-V and a domain-specific NPU. The referenced project already demonstrates an INT8 8×8 systolic-array accelerator, custom instruction set, RTL verification, and an RTL-to-GDSII flow on the SkyWater SKY130 open PDK, including DRC/LVS/timing signoff. The next phase is to extend this foundation with a RISC-V control core, memory-mapped accelerator, efficient data movement, and a compiler/runtime path from PyTorch/ONNX to NPU instructions. Such an open hardware-software platform could provide universities, startups and researchers with a practical environment for AI-chip architecture, verification and physical-design research, while enabling exploration of low-power edge AI for healthcare, agriculture, robotics and industrial applications.

Happy Birthday Sir, 1) Like Nordic countries, we need to remove cheque payments from the banking system. Instead, we need to keep only demand drafts and online payments. This will reduce the workload in the banking system by 30%. It will also avoid fraud transactions and cheque bouncing. Overall, it will reduce corruption in India. Hope the government will implement this soon. 2) We need to start precast construction for all residential buildings. 3) Our own Jet Engine. 4) POK aquasation. 5) Fast-track program for EVs and charging stations across the country. 6) Own satellite internet.

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence and semiconductors is pivotal for achieving technological sovereignty and self-reliance. To maximize this synergy, India should focus heavily on designing AI-optimized edge computing chips, specialized neural processing units (NPUs), and low-power semiconductors tailored for local challenges in agriculture, smart mobility, and healthcare. Strengthening domestic fabless design startups through accessible EDA tools, open-source architectures like RISC-V, and targeted R&D grants will accelerate innovation. Simultaneously, integrating industry-aligned VLSI and AI hardware curriculum in universities, backed by hands-on fabrication exposure, will build the specialized talent pipeline needed to establish India as a global design and manufacturing powerhouse.

I think AI and semiconductors will play a very important role in India’s future technology growth. AI needs better and faster computing, while semiconductor technology is the base for building those systems. There is also a lot of scope for innovation in areas like AI chips, edge computing, smart devices, healthcare, agriculture and electric vehicles. I feel India should focus more on practical learning, research and giving students access to labs and industry projects. This can help more students understand semiconductor technology and build careers in this field. As an MCA student interested in AI and technology, I believe the combination of AI skills and semiconductor knowledge can create many new opportunities for students and young developers in the coming years.

Title: AI-Powered Smart Manufacturing for Indian MSMEs Submitted by: Sajan kumar Pandit India has a large number of MSMEs working in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, fabrication and mechanical design. I believe Artificial Intelligence can play an important role in making these industries more efficient, affordable and competitive. I suggest developing an AI-powered Smart Manufacturing platform for Indian MSMEs. This platform could assist engineers and designers in CAD design, material selection, weight optimization and manufacturing planning. AI could analyse a 3D CAD model and identify possible manufacturing problems before production, such as difficult-to-fabricate features, unnecessary material usage or potential assembly issues. AI-based camera inspection systems could also be used to detect defects in manufactured components. Machine data could be analysed to predict maintenance requirements and reduce unexpected machine downtime.

AI and semiconductors are becoming a two-way engine: AI needs better chips to grow, and semiconductors are using AI to become faster, cheaper, and more intelligent to design and manufacture. The most important shift is that AI is no longer just a workload for chips; it is also becoming a tool inside the chip industry itself.Where the landscape is headingOne major direction is smarter chip design. AI is already being used for design-space exploration, RTL generation, verification, debug, and hardware-software co-design, which can shorten development cycles and reduce engineering effort. Another big direction is manufacturing, where AI helps with defect inspection, virtual metrology, process control, equipment monitoring, and yield analysis.New possibilities at the intersectionFaster chip development through AI-assisted EDA tools, including automated layout, synthesis, and verification. Better wafers and higher yields through computer vision and machine learning that catch defect

Suggestion: Building an AI and Semiconductor-Ready India India should develop a coordinated “AI and Semiconductor Literacy Mission” to prepare students, teachers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and workers for the technologies shaping the next generation of the digital economy. AI and semiconductors should not remain limited to specialised institutions or major technology hubs. Schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics and universities can gradually introduce age-appropriate learning in artificial intelligence, chip design, electronics, robotics, embedded systems, cybersecurity and responsible technology use. A special focus could be placed on hands-on learning. Students could access affordable electronics and semiconductor learning kits, AI laboratories, simulation platforms and community innovation centres. Partnerships between educational institutions, industry and government can provide internships, apprenticeships and practical training.
