AI-Assisted Semiconductor Design: From Specifications to Silicon-Ready Exploration Artificial Intelligence can transform semiconductor design by assisting engineers not only in software and verification, but also in complex analog and mixed-signal circuit development. One promising area is PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) design, which is fundamental to clock generation and synchronization in modern chips. PLLForge is a prototype EDA-style platform that automates key stages of PLL design, including specification-driven parameter calculation, loop-filter design, phase-margin analysis, behavioral lock simulation, validation and design export. The next step is to integrate AI into this workflow. An AI-assisted PLL design system could interpret design requirements, recommend architectures and parameters, analyse simulation results, identify potential issues and iteratively optimise the design against targets such as lock time, stability, power and jitter.

India is entering a new era where AI and semiconductors can power a smarter, self-reliant Bharat. We must move beyond using technology to design, develop and manufacture it in India. My vision is an AI–Silicon Bharat Innovation Grid connecting students, start-ups, researchers and industries to create solutions for healthcare, agriculture, education, smart cities, clean energy and national security. AI can accelerate chip design and manufacturing, while advanced chips can make AI faster, safer and more efficient. Let us transform Indian talent and ideas into technologies for India and the world. 🇮🇳 “The future should not merely happen in India—it should be built by India.”

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor technology is opening exciting possibilities for the future. AI can make chip design and manufacturing smarter and more efficient, while advanced semiconductors can make AI faster, more energy-efficient, and accessible on everyday devices. Together, these technologies can transform healthcare, transportation, robotics, manufacturing, cybersecurity, and many other fields. I believe the future will focus on developing intelligent, energy-efficient, secure, and sustainable technologies through closer integration of AI and semiconductor innovation.

India should develop AI-based semiconductor manufacturing systems that can continuously monitor chip-making machines, detect defects in real time, and predict equipment failures before they happen. AI can analyse temperature, vibration, pressure and production data to reduce defects, downtime and wastage. This can make semiconductor manufacturing more efficient, affordable and reliable. The goal should be: “AI for smarter chips and smarter chips for AI.”
