A MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train service should be operated on the circular route connecting Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Thiruvananthapuram, Punalur, and Sengottai. This rail service has become essential for purposes related to education, healthcare, commerce, and tourism. The Kottoor (Kerala) – Ambasamudram Road Construction Project (PM Gati Shakti project number 703477) is currently stalled. People in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu face long travel times when going to Thiruvananthapuram. Until this road project is implemented, a circular MEMU train service should be operated. Operating these trains during the day would help people from both states plan their journeys. This is already a highly profitable route for the railways; running MEMU trains would generate additional revenue.
