With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

there should be a system for farmers those are selling plant of tobacco . Gov. should fix a price on that price only tobacco companies. will earn plant of tobacco from farmers. And the price should be that much higher that farmers will get trippler profit from their producing cost. And also increase tax on tobacco selling. BY this farmers will get their profit and at some extent their should be decrease in selling of tobacco by this gov. will also get some more tax which can be used as a subsidy in households food and products.

Policies & laws may be such that customers don't hv to run around trying to justice. Today most of the big ISPs & DTV cos don't give bills for payments made nor anything in writing. Any dispute is against customer, say customer pay for full year services of DTV based on channels at that moment. It is like bank FD bank. During the period cos discontinue some channels and ask for additional amt. Is there no law to protect customer on this, not that one has to run to consumer court & be harassed.

We have policies in place but the execution needs to be done in stricter manner. Right from the filing complaint till the number of days for resolution and person responsible should be available on online platform. If responsible person does not do the duty properly then the next higher level should be available in hands of public.Problem in execution arises when public is not able to access the info. on whom to contact on next level when lower level public servant does not comply with duty.

Every packaged food product should come with a rating system like the Electronics Power Efficiency rating system. And this rating should be updated every year. One private company and one government organizstion should both test the product and give unified rating.
