With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

Direct Selling Industry in India needs a very serious and ethical regulatory body, to protect the interests of millions of families involved in this opportunity provided by various companies of which a few might be out there to dupe people of their hard earned money and companies like these give a bad name to the entire direct selling industry which has a lot of ethical companies who give an equal opportunity to anyone who is willing to work hard and achieve their dreams.

the industry had been proactively participating in the development of country by giving and creating self employment opportunities in country without any difference in caste and regional language barrier although many a times direct selling industry had been misinterpreted with money making schemes which need some rules and proper guidelines of operation which will help flourish direct selling in country. Many people now have an opportunity to manage their life style with another incm source

I think for must of us its not a business anymore, its a way of life, since we have not only grown financially but also we have strong friendship all over the countries because the business model is so designed that we can only be wealthy by helping someone to become wealthy which is unheard of outside. There should be a separate law for direct selling. Thank you..!!
