With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

Right now direct selling industry in India is the only way through which somebody specially middle class people, can secure their family and finances. The way private sector behaves at the time of recession or market down is really very dangerous for people who are dependent on job only. The direct selling industry have personally helped me to grow financially and secure my family future. It has also helped me to help somebody to secure their financial future.Me and my family support it big time.

Direct selling is a very good opportunity for middle class people to be able to come up financially in life. Direct selling industry provides opportunities for lot of people to be independent and not dependent on government or private companies for penetrating into rural areas. Many lives including mine have been improved by the training and opportunity provided by many direct selling companies. To me, such companies help create more businessmen from middle class families, like mine.

The Direct selling Business is what can be called as "EQUAL OPPORTUNITY" in the true sense of the word. People regardless of their education, economic status, class or creed can utilize it to make good of their life and grow themselves while helping others. This encourages entrepreneurship in young generation.

In my opinion direct selling is the only opportunity which provides equal platform to everyone to become entrepreneur. Backed by genuine products it also promotes women empowerment specially those housewives . ModiJi is talking abt Beti Padhao, this is logical next step to that ..Goverement shd bring regulations to ensure that it grows at par with FMCG and health industry to empower every Indian become entrepreneur..
