The Fit India Movement was launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on 29 August 2019 with the vision of ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ and the message ‘Fitness ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz’, to make fitness an integral part of everyday life. Over the years, the Movement has expanded its public outreach through flagship campaigns such as National Sports Day, Fit India Carnival, and Sundays on Cycle.

The Fit India School Certification Program is an initiative under the Fit India Movement, launched with the objective of making physical fitness an essential and everyday part of school life rather than an occasional or event-based activity. The program derives its statutory basis from the Gazette Notification and Operational Guidelines of the revised Khelo India Scheme (KIS), which formally provides for a school-level fitness certification mechanism.

This concept note presents the proposed new design of the Fit India School Certification Programme and invites inputs and suggestions from schools, teachers, parents, education administrators, sports bodies, and other stakeholders. The Programme seeks to build a strong, continuing relationship between Fit India and schools by promoting fitness among students, teachers, and staff. It recognises schools that provide regular physical activity and sports opportunities and gives parents a transparent, reliable reference for making informed school choices.

The underlying policy premise is that the school is the first formal institution after home where fitness habits can be systematically taught, practiced, and reinforced in a child's life.

Tagline: 365 Days. 365 Opportunities. One Fit India. FIT INDIA 365 is a national initiative that transforms school fitness into a daily habit rather than an occasional event. Every school will ensure at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day, including yoga, sports, athletics, cycling, traditional games, dance, or fitness exercises. Schools will record participation through a secure digital platform, creating a real-time National Fitness Dashboard with AI-based analytics. Schools achieving uninterrupted daily participation will receive special recognition and annual Fitness Excellence ratings. Parents and communities will also be encouraged to participate through monthly fitness events. This initiative supports healthier students, stronger school communities, and a nationwide culture of active living. It also has the potential to become a world-leading nationwide school fitness participation model, subject to independent verification by the appropriate record authority.

I sincerely appreciate the Government of India for launching the Fit India Certification initiative. It has the potential to inspire every citizen to adopt a healthier lifestyle. To make this initiative even more impactful, I would like to suggest: Introduce age-wise fitness challenges for students, youth, adults, and senior citizens. Create a digital dashboard where participants can track their fitness progress and earn milestone badges. Organize monthly community fitness events, yoga sessions, sports competitions, and awareness drives in schools, colleges, and villages. Provide free expert guidance on nutrition, mental health, and physical fitness through the Fit India platform. Recognize active participants, schools, and organizations with certificates and awards to encourage wider participation. I believe these suggestions will strengthen the Fit India Movement and help build a healthier, stronger, and more active India. Jai Hind.

Fit India Certification is a very good initiative. To make it more effective, monthly fitness activities should be organized in schools and colleges. Free online fitness and nutrition sessions should be provided. A digital progress tracker and achievement badges can motivate participants. Yoga, sports, and mental wellness should all be given equal importance. Active participants should receive certificates and recognition. These steps will increase awareness and encourage more people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Below are my suggestions 1. Mind is an integral to health. In the curriculum, meditation and yoga basics of pranayam should be mandatory. Children can improve better tolerance, manage mental stress during exam. 2. Process or methods to include poor children who do not have access to school should get opportunity to participate. There financial status may be an issue. 3. Provide opportunities for old retired players and coaches to access and contribute. There knowledge can be useful. 4. Like NCC, if children participating in particular sports activities, who has shown exceptional improvement and dedication should be given grace marks. Example. All sports should have 5 Levels. Level 1 school level to level 5 can be state level. For level 2 onwards, they get 10, 20, 30, 40 marks for their hard work for sports.
