The Fit India Movement was launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on 29 August 2019 with the vision of ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ and the message ‘Fitness ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz’, to make fitness an integral part of everyday life. Over the years, the Movement has expanded its public outreach through flagship campaigns such as National Sports Day, Fit India Carnival, and Sundays on Cycle.

The Fit India School Certification Program is an initiative under the Fit India Movement, launched with the objective of making physical fitness an essential and everyday part of school life rather than an occasional or event-based activity. The program derives its statutory basis from the Gazette Notification and Operational Guidelines of the revised Khelo India Scheme (KIS), which formally provides for a school-level fitness certification mechanism.

This concept note presents the proposed new design of the Fit India School Certification Programme and invites inputs and suggestions from schools, teachers, parents, education administrators, sports bodies, and other stakeholders. The Programme seeks to build a strong, continuing relationship between Fit India and schools by promoting fitness among students, teachers, and staff. It recognises schools that provide regular physical activity and sports opportunities and gives parents a transparent, reliable reference for making informed school choices.

The underlying policy premise is that the school is the first formal institution after home where fitness habits can be systematically taught, practiced, and reinforced in a child's life.

The Fit India School Certification Programme is a great initiative to make fitness a regular part of school life. The certification should focus not only on sports infrastructure but also on daily physical activity, student participation, inclusivity and overall fitness habits. Schools should be encouraged to include activities such as yoga, walking, cycling, traditional games and age-appropriate fitness exercises. Teachers and parents should also be involved as role models. Special consideration should be given to children with different abilities and to schools with limited resources. Regular assessment, continuous improvement and recognition of innovative fitness practices can make the programme more effective and sustainable. Overall, the initiative has strong potential to create a lasting culture of fitness among children and contribute to the vision of “Hum Fit Toh India Fit.”

Staying fit and healthy is essential for a happy life. The motto "Har Roj, Aadha Ghanta Dose" reminds us that devoting just thirty minutes a day to physical activity can make a huge difference in our overall well-being. Whether it is walking, running, practicing yoga, dancing, or playing a favorite sport, a daily half-hour exercise routine keeps the body active and the mind sharp. Regular movement strengthens the heart, boosts energy levels, reduces stress, and prevents common diseases. Fitness is not about extreme workouts; it is about consistency. By committing thirty minutes every day to our health, we can build a strong, active, and healthy lifestyle for a better tomorrow.

      3. In sports angle , as Bharathiyar said " Odivilayadu pappa, Nee iindirukkalagathu pappa", kids has to play. All kids have to play either fully in to sports angle or just for fun. Sports is one of the activity will help students to study better like art or music.

      2. In schools also , teachers can be educated to have good and healthy food. Small training to teachers will help to guide the school students to have healthy food.

Some suggestions: 1. Fitness is very important to everyone especially kids. For kids nowadays due to food culture changes kids are having more junk foods like maida biscuits , chocolates, maida , oily items especially in cities. So probably we can encourage kids to have consciously healthy foods.

As a Class 12 student, my life for the past year felt like a blur of formulas, board exam preparation, sample papers, and late-night study sessions. Physical health, quite frankly, had fallen off my radar. Exercise was something I relegated to the "after boards" task list. However, everything shifted when our school announced its participation in the Fit India Certification movement—an initiative driven by the Fit India Mission under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. At first, I viewed the Fit India assessment as just another school checklist requirement. Balancing high school academics with physical fitness tests sounded like an unwanted distraction. But on the day of the assessments, standing on the sports ground alongside my classmates, a long-dormant energy kicked in. The certification process wasn't just about showing off athletic skill; it was a comprehensive evaluation of our overall well-being
