This Group seeks inputs and suggestions for eliminating manual scavenging through fast paced demolition/conversion of insanitary latrines and effective rehabilitation of manual scavengers.  Alarmed with continuing practice of manual scavenging, the Parliament in September, 2013 passed “The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013” (MS Act, 2013) [Act can be accessed at https://www.nskfdc.nic.in/writereaddata/files/manualsca-act19913.pdf] which came into force on 6th December, 2013 throughout India except Jammu and Kashmir.  The Government is keen to ensure that comprehensive and determined action is taken under this legislation to eliminate this pernicious practice as early as possible.  However, this will require support and cooperation of all stakeholders including the civil society.  This Group consists of tasks and discussions. Tasks are online. Discussions enable participants to share their thoughts and ideas on relevant issues.
