The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens to participate in the BIS@80 Commemorative Logo Design Competition as part of the celebrations marking its 80th Foundation Day on 6 January 2027.

The competition seeks creative and distinctive logo designs that visually capture the essence of BIS@80. Submissions should symbolically reflect BIS’s eight-decade journey of promoting quality, standards, safety, reliability, and consumer confidence, while highlighting its role in laying the bedrock for a Viksit Bharat through strong quality infrastructure.

Designers are encouraged to translate BIS’s core mission into a compelling visual identity - representing how standardization, testing, conformity assessment, and consumer awareness empower citizens, enable informed choices, and make quality an integral part of everyday life.

      Technical Parameters

      1. Participants must submit a BIS@80 Logo Design along with a brief concept note in English or Hindi, not exceeding 200 words, explaining the design and its symbolism.
      2. The existing BIS logo must be incorporated as an integral part of the proposed BIS@80 Logo.
      3. The entry must be submitted in high-resolution JPEG/PNG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.
      4. The maximum file size shall be 4 MB.
      5. The design should be simple, creative, distinctive, meaningful and easily recognisable, and should be suitable for use across digital, print, social media, official documents, banners, publicity material and merchandise.
      6. The logo should be scalable and effective in both colour and monochrome formats, without losing its visual identity or clarity.

My First Logo Design Concept – BIS @ 80 Years As a Class 11 student, this is my very first experience in logo design. I believe a logo is the true identity of any organization—a powerful visual symbol that communicates its core purpose, values, and national importance without saying a word. About the Design: Core Symbolism: The logo features the official BIS emblem inside an industrial gear, representing India’s strong quality infrastructure and industrial progress. National Vision: The tricolor ribbon reflects national pride and our collective journey toward Viksit Bharat. Key Sectors: Integrated icons for agriculture (wheat stalk), digital technology (IC chip, connectivity), and consumer safety represent BIS's presence across every sector of modern India. Commitment: The circular phrase "STANDARDS BUILDING INDIA" alongside "Quality Standards | Trusted Safety" highlights BIS’s 80-year legacy of trust and excellence. Designed by: Aditi (Class 11 Student

The BIS@80 logo celebrates 80 years of the Bureau of Indian Standards and its enduring commitment to quality, safety, reliability and consumer confidence. The existing BIS emblem is placed at the centre as the foundation of the design, representing the organisation’s trusted role in establishing and maintaining standards. The bold “80” symbolises eight decades of service and progress, while its flowing form represents continuity, growth and BIS’s journey towards the future. The Ashoka Chakra within the design reflects India’s national identity and the contribution of strong standards to nation-building.
