27th July -a day after Man Ki Baat is "World Head & Neck Cancer Day"- India, unfortunately is world's capital of Oral Cancers and as per recent GLOBOCAN 2024 data nearly 2 lakh + new patients are diagnosed with oral cancer every year. This is the most preventable CANCER, occurring mainly, due to habit of chewing Tobacco, an addiction difficult to quit but easy to start. A few words by honorable PM to children & adults -NOT to start or use TOBACCO in any form will help prevent many mortality & morbidity in future. Indian Medical Association & myself as its National Chairman have been working for it for quite few years.

TCS, Microsoft, AI for All

Bharat, endowed with abundant bamboo resources, can harness bamboo as a strategic nature-based solution to advance multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The Government of Bharat may consider launching an Enhanced Climate-Resilient Carbon Capture Initiative by integrating live bamboo groves as green road infrastructure along Expressways, National highways, and state Highways. Road accidents caused by high-speed collisions and wildlife crossings remain major concerns. Conventional steel and concrete crash barriers are costly, carbon-intensive, and often fail to adequately absorb impact, resulting in severe vehicle damage and fatalities. Properly designed live bamboo groves can serve as sustainable Bio-barriers that improve road safety, sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide, conserve biodiversity, mitigate human-wildlife conflicts, and generate bamboo-based livelihoods and industrial opportunities for local communities.

IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) should provide opportunities to pursue its certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs in all recognized languages. Education through the medium of the mother tongue should be encouraged. It is regrettable that language acts as a barrier to education at IGNOU. Additional courses related to the agriculture and textile sectors should be introduced in open universities. IGNOU must create opportunities for education in the mother tongue.

#MannKiBaat: As we celebrate science, innovation, and entrepreneurship, perhaps it is also time to invest in another powerful nation-building force—storytelling. South Korea's global influence was strengthened not only by its technological progress but also by its dramas, which carried its language, culture, traditions, and values across the world. Entertainment became an instrument of soft power. India has no shortage of stories or talent. What we need is greater institutional support for writers, screenwriters, directors, and creators through scholarships, fellowships, and creative incubators. The emotional impact of a well-told story often lasts longer than any campaign. Entertainment shapes perceptions, inspires generations, and builds lasting cultural connections. By investing in our storytellers, we invest in India's identity, creativity, and global influence. This keeps the focus on storytelling as a strategic cultural investment rather than entertainment
