The Income Tax Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites innovative ideas and constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, students, and other stakeholders to strengthen taxpayer services and contribute towards building a more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly tax administration. This participatory initiative provides a platform to share practical ideas for enhancing taxpayer awareness, simplifying compliance processes, improving digital taxpayer services, and promoting ease of compliance.

Suggestions may also focus on strengthening service delivery, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), improving grievance redressal mechanisms, enhancing taxpayer education and outreach, and introducing innovative solutions to improve the overall taxpayer experience. Your valuable ideas will contribute towards making tax administration more accessible, technology-driven, citizen-centric, and responsive, while supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through better public service delivery, participatory governance, and greater taxpayer trust.

Taxpayer First: Ideas for the Future Purpose Building a Citizen-Centric Tax System for a Stronger India A nation's progress depends not only on its government but also on the active participation of its citizens. Among the most important responsibilities of every citizen is paying taxes honestly and on time. Taxes are the foundation of a country's development. They help build roads, schools, hospitals, railways, digital infrastructure, defense systems, and welfare schemes. In India, the vision of "Taxpayer First" represents a commitment to creating a tax system that values taxpayers as partners in nation-building rather than merely contributors to government revenue. The future purpose of a "Taxpayer First" approach is to establish a transparent, fair, technology-driven, and people-friendly taxation system that encourages voluntary compliance while making tax-related services simple, accessible, and trustworthy. Such a system not only increases revenue but also strengthens

The Income Tax Department may consider introducing a consent-based system that enables taxpayers to securely link relevant financial information, such as bank accounts, demat accounts, mutual fund investments, EPF, NPS, AIS, TIS, and Form 26AS, solely for the purpose of simplifying tax compliance. With the taxpayer's approval, the portal could automatically retrieve eligible financial data, prepare a more accurate pre-filled Income Tax Return, highlight possible discrepancies before submission, provide clear explanations of notices in simple language, and send reminders for important tax-related deadlines. Such a system would reduce manual data entry, minimize filing errors, improve transparency, simplify compliance, and enhance the overall taxpayer experience while ensuring privacy, security, and taxpayer control over data sharing.
