The Income Tax Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites innovative ideas and constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, students, and other stakeholders to strengthen taxpayer services and contribute towards building a more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly tax administration. This participatory initiative provides a platform to share practical ideas for enhancing taxpayer awareness, simplifying compliance processes, improving digital taxpayer services, and promoting ease of compliance.

Suggestions may also focus on strengthening service delivery, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), improving grievance redressal mechanisms, enhancing taxpayer education and outreach, and introducing innovative solutions to improve the overall taxpayer experience. Your valuable ideas will contribute towards making tax administration more accessible, technology-driven, citizen-centric, and responsive, while supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through better public service delivery, participatory governance, and greater taxpayer trust.

It is recommended to reduce the income tax rate for partnership firms from the present 30% to 15%, and introducing a concessional tax regime for sole proprietorships and other small businesses by levying tax on business income at 50% of the applicable individual slab rates, subject to a turnover threshold. Lower tax rates would reduce the burden on honest taxpayers, improve cash flow for MSMEs, encourage business expansion, increase voluntary tax compliance, and discourage tax evasion. The resulting formalisation of businesses would widen the tax base, generate higher long-term revenue, improve ease of doing business, promote employment, and strengthen India's entrepreneurial ecosystem and economic growth.

Suggestion: remove a computational anomaly in capital gains on securities that creates avoidable manual work and AIS mismatches. Section 72(3)(b) of the Income-tax Act, 2025 bars including Securities Transaction Tax in cost of acquisition or transfer expenditure. Contract notes itemise STT on both legs, and depositories already report this data under Section 285BA, yet taxpayers must strip it out by hand before filing. The same amount is deductible under Section 36(1)(xv) when assessed as business income, so one line item carries two treatments. The rule was framed in 2004, when these gains were exempt. The charge was restored in 2018 and raised in 2024. The rule has outlived its basis. Suggested: align Section 72(3)(b) with Section 36(1)(xv); let the pre-filled schedule compute gains net of STT from data already held; and meanwhile show STT paid as a distinct AIS field. Detailed note attached.

Namaskar Modi ji Just watching the protest clips and it is very sad to see the young people behaving so badly. Please see to the education system well and schools etc that are running. Behaviour of the young kids are so deplorable and the language is so bad I wonder we are going to have a tough time in future. Moral values have decreased as we see paper leaks are happening from progressive states only. You may think of shifting the set up from the states who involved in paper leaks. Sincerity has decreased drastically in all levels. Parents should teach good values to children. Surrounding should provide proper nourishment to them to Become a good citizens. It looks like everything is going down . So sad state of affairs. Human value is decreasing and people cannot differentiate right or wrong. Thanks

The best thing for the taxpayer would be that his ITR is prepared by the softwares and information networks of IT Dept. and send a yearly income tax bill on 30th June like one gets electricity bill on monthly basis. If the tax payer pays the relevant bill within a month, he need not file the ITR, i.e. he agrees with the ITR of the Dept. In case the tax payer does not agree, then he may edit the ITR online and correct the relevant entries and file the ITR and pay tax accordingly. In case the yearly tax is zero, as assessed by the Dept., ITR need not be necessarily filed by the taxpayer. Above said is just a thought which may or may not be relevant for taxing process in future years.

      1. The information related to donations made may also be provided in AIS, Annual Information Statement. 2. The details of transaction of share and mutual funds is given in AIS. It would be more helpful if capital gains is also shown there for each transaction.

If Income Tax Return has already been filed, and later it is found by I.T. Dept. that one or two entries is incorrect, then those particular entries may be made editable and refillable on the portal, instead of refiling the ITR as a whole.
